Statistics vs Cat Index

My Classifieds is growing, I think because of basic improvements Chuck has been making to the program to make it more useful. Thanks for that Chuck.

I've been watching my Statistics page in the Admin CP every day and seeing the number of ads grow daily. Today, I have 700 ads showing in the Statistics panel.

But when I count the number of items listed in the Classifieds index as shown next to each category the number is much less. By this count only 400 ads are current.

I run the cron job every day and delete expired ads every day. So, why would these two numbers be so far apart?

I don't think that this disparity is new but I've just noticed it as I've started watching our Classifieds much more closely.

Ads are marked as expired and hidden from view but they are only deleted every two weeks

Even if I click the "Approve / bulk Actions" function every day and delete "Expired Ads"?

If you delete ads then the numbers will come down sure.

Remember there are different cases which would make ads not appear on your index.

1. They are expired

2. They are sold

3. They are not approved.

4. They have not been paid for.

We automatically approve everything, so there are no unapproved ads. Our ads are free and there are no unpaid for ads.

They expire and they get marked sold, which is nearly the same as expired.

We run the Cron job to take care of these and we manually delete all "expired" every day.

So, isn't it odd to have 700 ads in the Admin panel and 400 ads on the categories?

I am telling you if you have 700 ads you have 700 ads and only 400 show then 300 have to be expired sold etc

You can try editing adm-misc.php line 54 and make sure the approved looks like this
