Spider-friendly URLs

When I set this option to on, some of the thumbnails don't come out properly.

When I switch to seo mode, none of the pages work.

Can someone please help me?

well for seo to work your server needs to allow mod rewrite and you should have the HTACCESS file renamed to .htaccess.

For spider urls to work your server's apache depending on the version either AcceptPathInfo set to on or AllowPathInfo set to on.

what do you mean when spider friendly urls on some thumbnails do not work?

You would need to provide a url so we can respond further.

I can't post the url here.

None of the thumbnails seem to work when viewing an item or category in Spider mode. It doesn't seem to fetch any variable that contains the installation directory.

Do I include the strings of the htaccess in my main htaccess file in the root of the site or just rename the one on the classifieds directory?

Chuck S April 27th, 2012 07:32 PM

You rename the one in classifieds folder

still does not work.

well i'll just try to post the url www[dot]autoindustriya[dot]com/4sale

do i need to edit anything on the htaccess?

Your using relative urls in your options for the data path in global options. make sure your urls are full urls under global options in admin and your issue should be resolved.

Thanks again Chuck! It worked now.

My last problem is when I use the seo option, none of the links work even if I rename the .htaccess file

Maybe your server does not support mod rewrite? without specific information it is hard to say here. what type of serverr is this?

dbludvl May 6th, 2012 09:09 AM

I use rewrites for all my other dynamic pages. It supports mod rewrite just fine. Its running a Nix based server.

Your spider urls work fine

As far as SEO like I said if your server supports mod rewrite and you set rename the HTACCESS file to .htaccess and set the option in global options to seo it should work.

Our site uses it as well as tons of others.
