Ads Dissappeared

Chuck

Out of nowhere my ads disappeared. Nothing has been changed, I'm still running older vB 4.1.2 version and classified 4.2

You can still see them in most viewed sidebar but the ad listings are gone,

Any help on where to start?

Ads should disappear if they are expired and your running your cron task.

Now should expired ads show in a most viewed pal but I can not speak about old code I can only deal with what I see in our present code.

Remember you as an admin should see anything. You should see any ads are expired.

If you clicked on my link then you should see no ads listed just like I see. You see the most viewed ads are all that show, nothing else.
I wouldn't post or bother you over expired ads, I know they don't show.
My concern is my current ads stop showing and I don't know why. I haven't made ant changes, everything has been motoring along for months with no problems.

Remember you have it set that guests can not view anything so that is exactly what I see.

I can not comment about a site that I have no viewing permissions. I did find in our records your cpanel site access and I checked your database your classifieds has 4 ads.

The way things work is the cron task expires ads. When you visit admin expired ads over 2 weeks old are deleted. Thus you have 4 ads left and active so as I see it nothing has disappeared. The 4 ads which are current you see on your site otherwise anything else which was expired and over 2 weeks old I would think was properly deleted.

My site is setup as it always has been for guests to view it all. They can even buy it now if they want.

Sometimes I have problems explaining myself, I'm trying to tell you that my categories for ads in for sale, trade etc are no longer showing for me or anyone. I have attached a pic of what I see. I dont know what happen to my categories. If you need access to my site as admin then let me know and I will email it to you.

Your site picture and url shows what I have stated. Look there is no categories listed you can not view anything as a guest. Log out and see what I am seeing. There is no content to view.

You need to as admin check your category permissions and make sure guests can view the categories.

However I also see your site says your using an older classifieds and your integrating with vb4 so if you just upgraded your forum my suggestion is you download the latest classifieds.

If you look at the pic that's me the admin that's logged in and that;s what I see just like a guest see's which is not right. It has always showed the listed categories for anyone logged in or not. It just stopped today, I don 't know why.

I have not upgraded my vB4, I'm running 4.1.2 and 4.1.7 is out, just like I haven't upgraded PP classifieds in months.

Something has glitched, I've been running classifieds for a few years a it has always showed the categories on for sale items, that's the way I set it up.

Well you have upgraded your forum as 4.12 was not out when your classifieds 4.0 was installed. Like I said from what I see you definately want to make sure your running our latest which is 4.21.

You need to be running the latest code to ensure compatibility with the latest vb and then we can see where things are. I would suspect if you download the latest code. Delete the install.php and 2 config files from that unzipped code and upload the new code to your site and run the upgrade.php and go from 4.0 to 4.2 you should be fine.

I've download 4.21 and installed as you said. When I run the upgrade file the highest one I find to upgrade to is 4.01 -> 4.1
Is this correct? Also should I upgrade language and zip codes?

Yes you should run any upgrades from 4.0 forward. No need to reinstall languages or zipcodes.

If you want me to comment more I would definately need a working admin login the only error I see if you do not have viewing permissions.

Your number of ads as I said is correct there are 4 products in your classifieds however clicking any of those most viewed links results in the same error you get trying to view a category you do not have permission to view.

I ran upgrade and all is working find now like it should. I'm still running vB4 4.1.2
and if I remember the classifieds I upgrading from was 4.2.0 to 4.2.1

Like I said in earlier posts something glitched as my site has been motoring along for months without any issues and I hope it stays that way.

You where running 4.0 not 4.2 that much I know because I could see the version number in your database. I just did not have a working admin login.
