Editing custompal.tmpl notworking I would like to add custom pal on the sidebar. I edited sidebar options to display custom pals #1,2,3, but only 2 pals are displayed with "PAL TITLE" and "STUFF" written in them. Now in attempt to edit these, I go to, Admin Page -> Administration -> Edit Template -> custompal.tmpl and edit the text written. For instance, change "PAL TITLE" -> "Pal Title 2" "STUFF" -> "asdfasdf". However, even if I change these texts in Admin Page, nothing is changed on my site. I delete the entire code in the custompal.tmpl, and it still shows up without a problem. I searched all over the site, and thought this is where to edit custom sidebar PALs. Am I missing something altogether? Please help. Thanks in advance! |
Have you set the actual tmpl files to writable 666 per the install instructions? This would prevent you from editing the file. |
Dear Chuck. Thank you for the reply. I double checked and made sure permission for both the folder and the actual custompal.tmpl files were set to 666. (even tried 777). Since admin panel didnt work, I also edited actual custompal.tmpl files through ftp and edited the text of PAL TITLE and STUFF. I reloaded the files to double check the changes were saved on each file. However, the custompal displayed on my website remained in its default look unchanged. Could there be any other reason I cant edit custompal.tmpl? |
if your editing the file via ftp did you edit the right one? remember if your integrating with vb3 your template would be in the vb3enhanced folder Likewise for vb4 the vb4enhanced folder |
Thanks a lot! That fixed the problem. Have a great weekend! |
Yep you too. |
Dear Chuck. It seems I can edit the files via ftp, but i cannot edit these files through admin. I found out that if I edit files through admin, it keeps editing files in vb3enhanced folder, instead of vb4enhanced folder. Could you please let me know how I can fix this problem? |
Make sure your using all the proper new files. I can edit a vb4enhanced template under my admin on the vb4 install I have. thats what I would check maybe one of your admin files is not new |
Hello Chuck and to everyone else.... :D I have noticed that there are only three 'Custom PAL #' able to be displayed. My question is can i increase this number to five? I know where the templates are kept, and can duplicated them, but the AdminCP for PPro only displays the original three in its 'SideBar Settings'..... Thank you in advance. Shane aka:Avros |
Why not use the new plugin system included in PhotoPost 8 to create however many plugins you want on the sidebar? |
Thanks Chuck for your very prompt reply. Cheers. |

Let me know if your stumped or need any questions answered about the plugin system. I know thats new to most users. ;) I have posted same plugins I have made for users to try here that should give you a basis of how the plugin code should be formatted if you have problems following the tutorial and want to see first hand how they look. http://www.photopost.com/forum/photo...fieds-plugins/ |
