Question How can we make Featured (Random) Ads in Random Image Pal Pull From One Catgeory?

Hello,

I am running VB4.1.3 and PhotoPost Classifieds 4.1 vB3 Enhanced.

I have created a category where posters have to pay, sort of a special category for featured ads.

I would like to have as additional incentive for all the ads in this 'Featured Category' to be pulled and randomly displayed in the random ads pal in the sidebar showed globally.

Is there a way to for me to edit a template or a file for this to happen? it will only be from one category.

Thanks in advance!

Noel

I beleive your referring to a code mod and not something in our actual program that entitles you to product support if I understand your question.

If your referring to any content you have installed on your forum in the way of code mods you would have to edit those plugin codes in your vbulletin that is outside our actual supported code. In our program as well if your trying to change something or alter something from its normal operation that would be a code mod.

where are you referring to so I can truly answer you?

thanks for the reply chuck.

maybe i was not really clear in my first post. i am referring to the random ads box that is part of the sidebar boxes that come with photopost classifieds which you turn on or off in the sidebar options (along with most view ads pal, custom pal1, cutom pal2 and custom pal 3). These sidebar boxes are all within the photpost classifieds (either in the index or globally)

I would like to have the random ads just pull from one category. I have looked into the featurepal.tmpl and need some direction on which code to edit (if i am looking in the right direction).

Thanks again chuck. i will appreciate some light on this.

well by default they are controlled by the display_gallery function in the file pp-inc.php. If you are in a category page they show only ads from that one category. If you are on the main index it shows all ads one has permission to view.

You would need to alter that file accordingly. That would be considered code modification.

I see. it's more complicated than i thought.

I would really need a snippet or code (preferably in in html format) that i can place in wordpress widgets (for our portal and other sites) and also in the classifieds global sidebar (custompal1) that will show one column of 4-6 ads (thumbnail, poster, category) from only one category even for a fee.

So i have to post this in the photopost classifieds mod forums to look for a coder to have this done for a fee?

well I can not really respond alot on code mod stuff. I basically handle product support. Either of those things you want to do would require you to write up some code mod to do that.

You can post outside the product support areas in the code mod forums to discuss with other users ideas etc.
