Different Domains

We would like to host our classifieds on a different domain from the forums, but still share the member data base. I tried, but the Classifieds won't recognize the login from the forms when its on another domain. Thanks in advance for the help.

Classifieds of course is not going to recognize the cookie of your forum if the domain names are different cookies work on one domain name. If you have correctly installed without the enhanced integration so classifieds uses its own stuff just the user login then you can login with the vb login in classifieds login and it should work fine.

you really cant use enhanced integration on applications with different domain names since your forum cookie would read site1.com and your classifieds is expecting cookie from site2.com where it is installed.

That's what I thought. What about using the IP?

Sorry, I am not sure what you mean by enhanced integration? Is that just the persistent login between forums and photoPost?

Cookies only work one way for one site you can not read cookies on multiple domains.

If your forum is installed on one domain and classifieds is on another you will need to login to each application.

Thanks. Oh okay, great. We can have people login again.

However, I have tried with both the same and different domains set up. I cannot manually login to the classifieds using user credentials from the IPB forums. It does not accept the user name or email address with password for any user. Any manual login via the PhotoPost side returns an error.

Right now the ONLY way someone can access an account is they are logged into the IPB forums already.

I really can't say without actually looking at your integration.
