| Tutorial/Manual for Classifieds?
Hi,
Am a new user in PP Classifieds, am trying to figure out how to do simple basic stuffs like buying and selling.
How does one place a bid or buy the item? Also, how does one put feedback or rate the sellers?
- NEW! Sellers can place classified ads for fixed prices or with optional eBay style bidding enabled
- NEW! User feedback system to provide ratings and feedback for buyers and sellers

In Admin => Edit Categories when setting up the category you set whether to allow bidding or not.
When someone places an ad they can check to allow bidding or not. This will tell whether it is an ad or auction. If it is an auction then users will see the bid controls and be able to place a bid. If they can not see bid controls then the ad was not marked to allow bids.
Feedback can be left in a users profile usually the link to leave feedback is sent via email to the winner of the auctioned item.

I was trying various ways to post the ad, but can't quite seem to figure this out.
To set as auction, what do I need to do?
If I set as auction, can I still have a Buy It Now?
Finding it quite difficult to navigate; I don't see any box which says "auction?". There are fields to set asking price, buy it now price, auction reserve price etc. Quote:

when placing an ad if you allow bidding in a category you will see an allow bidding checkbox you must be check that box on upload for it to be an auction
Have you under admin edit categories for your categories set allow bidding to yes?

Okay I managed to figure it out now; seems like this election must be done the first time the ad is placed; can you confirm that once elected, we cannot change the election of allowing bidding or not?
Next question, now that we have already elected bidding, I've also put a Buy It Now price, but now, I can figure out how bidding works (seems to be the ebay style max bid / autobid method, where user clicks S$100, but displays only as S$0.25 until someone is higher than him), how does Buy It Now work?
I placed a test ad of S$100 and bid for it as S$50. Shows bid as S$0.25; fine and good; but when I try to "Buy It Now" by bidding 100, nothing changes!
Thanks Quote:

Yes that is correct it can only be done when an ad is placed
Buy it Now is the price like ebay you can click to buy it outright.
Therefore buy it now is going to be whatever you put the buy it now price ad. Ebay has this type of functionality I know have bought alot of stuff using buy it now through ebay.

In eBay, there is a specific Buy It Now button; but in Photopost Classifieds, when an item is available both as an auction and buy it now; I can only find an auction field to input the price I want to bid; but no Buy It Now button.
Can you advise the specific steps to make "Buy It Now" happen?
Thanks! Quote:

There are on the upload page a checkbox to allow bidding boxes for price reserve price and buy it now price as well as a slew of other things.
If you fill out the information it will show
You must mark when uploading an ad that you allow people to buy it now fill out the buy it price and fill out your paypal email. If you do not do any of those things it will not show.

Oh I think the problem could be that I did not fill in a buy it now paypal email.
Is the paypale mail mandatory before buyit now can work? I mean, our members may want a buy it now function but do not use paypal; is there a way to bypass this check? Quote:

I do not believe that would be mandatory it is an optional feature as is buy it now etc. The only things required on upload are title and description which is the base required options to answer.

That is correct and how it is suppose to work. As I stated all that stuff is optional fields the buy it now etc. The uploadproduct page definately states if you want to do buy it now you need to enter your paypal email so if you do not fill it out then yes your creating your issue.

Which was what I said earlier, that if we want to hvae buy it now, but use another form of payment (ie other than paypal) that is not possible. However, your reply suggested that its not mandatory but optional; and hence, the confusion.
Can you confirm if we can skip the check for a paypal email address? Perhaps something we can edit to the php file? Quote:

The buy it now has always been just a paypal thing. Other stuff like authorize.net and other payment providers we have require specific client config information which make them only configurable through the main site. You can use the other payment providers for payment for users posting ads but when it is really user paying user it is just like ebay the buyit now is simply paypal.
