Hi,

Our site is a gaming-related forum. I just wanted to know if there is an easy way to override/alter the available currencies, to reflect only a particular currency that the game we support uses. At the same time, I would also like to know if there is a way to override the available shipping options? Lastly, is it possible to tap into Classifieds hooks for custom-made extensions somehow? (As an indication, we currently pull data from an ingame auction, and calculate an average market price for that. If at all possible, I would love for that to somehow automatically be inserted into the existing classifieds, to serve as some form of a price-indicator. I am aware that to accomplish this, I will need to set up a database structure where I can link the two).

I most likely can achieve all this by manual edits, but I would prefer keeping my product in a state where it still is supported, so I figured asking here and perhaps getting these features .

Some additional comments (I use vBulletin 4.0.5):

When I create a classfied under my own name, and then check it, it somehow has the wrong avatar listed. My avatar (on ym test system) is at avatar1_7.gif, but the classifieds system attempts to add 1_8.gif. In the database, the AvatarRevision field is listed as 8. Yet, when I right-click my image and select save-as, it stated avatar1_8.gif.

There's an option to show random/newest etc items on the index page. Is it somehow possible to influence where this displays? IT defaults to the bottom, but can we have all three of these next to one another at the top as well, maybe?

I might have overlooked something, but is there a vBAdvanced module for the Classifieds (and hopefully, the Review system as well)? I have decided to not implement the vBuletin CMS yet (cause it seems unfinished and unstable). If a default module exists, that'd be awesome


I seem to have some trouble setting up some of the categories. My wife did some, I added some more. I added two top-level categories (as did she). Hers shows up properly, mine were added as sub-level categories under the last one before I started. Am I overlooking something blatantly obvious?


I added an extra TAB to the vB4 menu, using a plugin. I set this to show up as a selected tab using a condition to check whether THIS_SCRIPT equals 'cpindex'. That works fine for the index page, but not for pages navigated to from the index (meaning, it will highlight a different tab). Is there a list available of which other THIS_SCRIPT values are used in the Classifieds system?

1. You could I suppose remove any currencies you do not want to show in the currency table in phpmyadmin.

2. Not sure what shipping options you refer to. One can enter a shipping price to pay a seller but this program is not really a shopping cart you do not pick shipping etc

3. You would need to open a support issue on anything in the default code you do not think is working correctly like your avatar and as far as categories if they are listed as subcategories then I would think they are subcats by mistake

4. The only vb4 plugin for classifieds I know of is the one I created

Thanks for your reply, Chuck. If I would overwrite the settings in the database, will a new upgrade of the classifieds system not undo my settings the next time?

As for the shipping, you're right. I did mean the shipping price. Is it possible to remove/disable that field from showing up altogether?

On the categories, I think we figured it out. I did not set the "Contains Ads" to no.

I'll also have a look at the module you mentioned. I'm not sure it does what we want it to do, but perhaps I can reuse some of the code from there

A few more minor things...

When creating an ad, is there an option to remove/hide all the paypal stuff?


I selected to use the vBeditor, but for some reason, the WYSIWYG editor is a different one. See screenshots.

If you remove currencies from the currencies table upgrading should not add them back in.

If your trying to remove anything from a template there is not a switch to remove you would need to edit the actual template associated with where your talking thats called code hacking or modification

The plugin I showed you should be all inclusive to put a classifieds navbar link on the vb4 menu as well as show stuff in the users profile and a block of ads on the forum index.

The vb editor has only ever been designed to show on the comments portion of the program later on we added in the tinymce editor which shows just about everywhere else a text box is found.
