How do I show shipping amount other than "NONE" ...

The shipping amount appears to be a numerical field, that if one puts no value into it, the result is that it says NONE for shipping costs.

The problem with this is that the seller may want to charge shipping costs, but he really doesn't know how much to fill in as he has no idea where the potential buyer may be located geographically, so it's a variable cost known only AFTER the sale. It's a problem in code flow logic.

We've added a custom field to inform the potential buyer that 'shipping costs" are:

Included?: YES or NO (check box used)

So, if it's checked YES and the ad reader sees NONE under shipping costs, it's confusing.

Is there any way to have this make more sense? ie: is there a way of saying TBA (to be arranged) instead of NONE if the shipping costs field is empty?

Thanks Chuck ..

Regards,
Doug

well doug it depends how you look at it.

The shipping field included in the program is clearly identified as being a numerical field. NONE is simply a term used when there is no default value.

My suggestion is maybe a wording change on the language string if you dont like the default none.

That's a great idea Chuck .....

I hadn't thought of changing the "string" to TBA or something that better suits our perception of how members would view the phrase. I took it to mean there's no shipping charge and it's included in the price.

Do you know off hand what template I find that in?

Thanks ...

Regards,
Doug

Doug that would be under admin edit language strings. You would search for the wording you wish and it will match strings and then you can change the text.
