How do I learn more about subscriptions?

I want to better understand how subscriptions work and make sure I implement their usage to maximize revenue on our site, yet ensure we don;t create an environment that discourages posting ads due to excessive costs.

Can anyone provide feedback as to how to best employ this system and perhaps provide some real world examples of costs they've used?

Ok, no response on Subscriptions, but are they related to Payments for Ads?

Note: When you have payments enabled, setting a value to 0 means there is no cost. You must enable payments in the Admin Options for these setting to take effect.

If I use this system, how do people pay for example .50 cents to highlight etc?

Do they use the subscription system then Classifieds deducts amounts from whatever amount the subscribe to?

I'm trying to set this up in a practical way to go live next week, so if anyone can provide any guidance as to how they use payments and subscriptions, it would be appreciated.

By the way, under Admin Options, I can't find any field that enables this. Is it in another option screen now?

Payments for ads are for specific ads.

subscriptions are basically time based subscriptions you can setup to boost a user into another usergroups which might have better permissions than lower ones.

I kind of thought that's how it worked ...

So, if someone is to be charged .50 cents to highlight an ad, do they send us a PayPal for .50 cents before they can post their ad?

Secondly ...

Is it possible to patch in one of my templates a redirect to our own "Donations Page? By that I mean that Photopost Classifieds calls:

http://www.mydomain.com/pp-classifie...=order&subid=1

Can I have it call this page instead:

http://www.mydomain.com/payments.php

yes they have to pay for the ad to appear

Your free to modify anything you wish but I can only provide support for the default code.

Can you point me to the template that contains the PhotoPost Classifieds link to doing subscriptions? It effectively does what our own "Donations" link has done for years and it would probably be more integrated for us.

I do understand your "support" issue, but I don't think it will be a problem as it's just a link redirect.

You setup subscriptions in admin

There is then a subscriptions link on the photopost classifieds navbar if there are subscriptions.

Sorry, I'm not explaining myself well ...

I simply what to change the link the user is sent to when they click the option shown in the pic from the default to:

http://www.mydomain.com/payments.php

This will take them to out Donations System which is essentially the same as what Classifieds would do...

the subscription link for users is right on your menubar as stated
