Changing Directories - moving Classifieds to new directory

Chuck, I had difficulties with subdomain creation, which are now resolved. I've already installed Classifieds into a subdomain, and successfully integrated into vbulletin. I'd like to complicate my life by moving the classifieds into a different directory, (classifieds.russbo.com).

I've moved the files, and changed config-inc and config-int to reflect the new directory location. Database stuff remains the same. Problem is, you can find a working copy of Classifieds in classifieds.russbo.com but the admin links, etc, go back to promo.russbo.com

How do I change that?? Could not find any information in the forums here about moving installs from one directory to another.

Thanks!
rich

How to Move Servers and/or Change Directories

Did you change the urls in global options to reflect a new url?

Well, THAT's the problem.

I can get into the admin area in the new subdomain (directory), by typing the direct link to the global options. I cannot enter the admin area via newdirectory.russbo.com; when I click on that, it directs to olddirectory.russbo.com/adminarea....

If i go to the Global Options in the admin area of newdirectory.russbo.com, I see everything, and also see that the URL's are pointing to olddirectory.russbo.com..... When I try to change it there, I get this error:

In order to accept POST request originating from this domain, the admin must add this domain to the whitelist.

OK, a certifiable conundrum. Is there a "back way" way of changing those variables? Are they in the database somewhere, or, in some php file in the server???

As for the directions for Photopost, I'm an old pro at that, having muddled around doing this a few times, LOL. I figured Classifieds was the same. It's this "whitelist" error that's throwing me.

Thanks!

EDIT: I see it's in the Settings of the mysql database. there are four entries which are showing the old directory. I can't seem to alter those, and I don't know enough about mysql to write sql queries to change this stuff. Not sure if I'm barking up the wrong tree here, but I don't see another way of fixing this...

Just want you to know something Chuck.

I've got BALLS. Big ones.

I fixed this by exporting the settings mysql database, dropped that table, opened up the file in Notepad++, changed "old directory.russbo.com to "newdirectory.russbo.com" in five or six different places, and imported the changed file back into the mysql database.

Looks like it's all running fine now.

That was fun. I'm sweating. Knowing nothing about mysql, well, this gave me one hell of a cheap thrill....

Russ just for future reference you can always run the install script and reinstall into the same database and tables it wont delete anything and will fix all the urls etc

Yes, having moved these forum things around a bit lately, I have to agree that installing ends up being easier than copying and adjusting. I was always afraid that the old database data would get overwritten; that's good to know.

Thanks. Always good to know that you're out there behind us while we wreak havoc in our little Photopost adventures!

yeah as long as you install into the same database tables that already exist you cant delete or overwrite anything. what ends up happening is path etc get updated which is what you want.
