sigh - Categories

I have to admit, I can't remember any program that has given me as much of a headache as these ones have :-(

I wish there was some type of instructions on how to use them.

I've spent nearly 3 hours just trying to master the categories and I'm still completely stuck.

Main Index - PhotoPost Classifieds

I have started to add in the categories but I just CANNOT seem to figure out how to possibly add another MAIN category (same thing as the "Camaro's, Camaro's, Camaro's...".

I've tried EVERYTHING in the way of sorting, changing parent categories and where to place them but everything I have tried just keeps wanting to add the category UNDER any of the other categories as apposed to creating an entirely NEW category.

When I did the "Camaro's, Camaro's, Camaro's..." I created it by EDITING the default "MAIN".. Now when I do it, I just CANNOT seem to get the one one to be a TOP category. If it were, it would have the BROWN background. When I click to "Add new top category", it only adds it under the others rathering than creating a new "ie. MAIN" again..

Oh okay well on categories you want to make main edit them and where it asks contains ads? SET THAT TO NO.

If I am following that should be what you want.

ah that would do it, thanks. I really think tho in the next release that there be some internal help icons with text on some of the (should be all in reality) main options and what they are used for would be MOST beneficial :-)

I'd hate to think someone would be given a license and put on the road without knowing how to drive and have to ask what to do, what street signs means while I'm driving. We got have SOME type of knowledge ;-)

I did what you said and was able to get that category as a top category to begin a new section. The problem I am having now is trying to get the new categories in that category to be a category in itself. Yes rather confusing..

Main Index - PhotoPost Classifieds

"Non Camaro's" is the main category. What I am trying to do it make it so the "None Camaro's" is set up exactly like in the "Chevrolet Camaro's" with the subcategories under it.

However when I add a new category (Example "TESTING 123") to the "Non Camaro's" main category, it creates it as a subcategory that is lower in the ranking. You can tell because there is a 1/4" margin in the " TESTING 123" instead of being right at the table line like in "FOR SALE" is in "Chevrolet Camaro's".

If I add a subcategory that "TESTING 123" it HIDES that new category and can only be viewed if the "TESTING 123" link is clicked.

Chuck S : I am going to PM you my private admin login to see the way I set up of the categories.

Edit: can't pm you..

If you add a subcategory it is going to be indented from its parent.

Really its all about what your doing so make sure your parents and subcategories are all aligned under the proper parenting. we only indent when there is a parent
