Cookie Remember Me it is normal?

I already read through most of the thread on the cookie issue and tested for hours still problem before I decided to write this post for help, and my issue is, I need to Set Remember Me to either one in order to stay login when moving from forum to pp to cp.

hmm Chuck I tried your site is the same issue, after I login to your forum, when I click on your photopost link I need to login again if the Remember me is not set.

1. www.photospot.com/forum
2. www.photospot.com/photopost
3. Main Index - hidden

I already check all my setting and is correct meaning: I use /, bb, and .mysite.com for all forum, cp, pp setup, I did cleared browser cookie and login, I also uploaded the vb3.php again to the forums dir of cp and pp but everytime it just prompt me to login again if the Remember me is not set, it is normal? Can you check your site for link 1,2,3 above also whether you've the same issue? I tried your site above 1,2,3 and is having the exact same issue as mine.

I'm using all the latest version fresh copy new installation no hack, 1 database for all vb, cp, pp, table prefix for vb is none, cp is cp_ and pp is pp_ and the license number vb3 entered is matching across all vb,cp,pp, my classified is on the root directory:

www.mysite.com (classified v7.0.1)
www.mysite.com/forum (forum vb 3.8.5)
www.mysite.com/gallery (pp pro v4.0.1)
*mysite is just an example

i've created .htaccess to auto redirect non-www to www hence my cookie domain even I set to .mysite.com or I leave it as blank for vb,cp,pp the result is the same meaning:

result1: on the cp root directory / i can login without check remember me, but on vb /forum and pp /gallery i need to check remember me else cannot login (please see result 3 on what i meant by cannot login, user actually already login successfully)

result2: after login, when move from vb to pp or pp to vb to cp need to check remember me else will get logout. (please see result 3 on what i meant by getting logout, user actually already login successfully)

result3: actually the so call "logout" or "cannot login" as described above in result1+2 is due to the vb3 navbar playing trick on us which is use throughout cp,vb,pp for intergated stylesheet because it becomes empty or blank on the login field in the page, while the user is actually already logged on as it said Welcome, User! on PP nav bar and not VB3 nav bar.

so the issue is the vb3 navbar login field, because user did stayed login throughout without checking on Remember Me, just that the navbar login field is blank even though user already login because I can see Welcome, User! on PP nav bar not on VB3 nar bar.

Chuck how do we get the navbar from vb3 to display user has log on? because the login field is not consistent if without checking on Remember Me.

If we did not check Remember Me, user can Login successfully to all vb,cp,pp, just that the login field is blank on vb3 nav bar use throughout for intergrated style, so what's wrong any idea?

--------- extract from your previous thread
>We do authenticate the users session cookie
>Now what is extremely strange in your situation is we >have clearly shown the integration works fine in the >example we provide in this thread and as well you can >test this right in our example on this site with any of our >applications.
>Main Index - PhotoPost Photo Gallery
>Main Index - PhotoPost Classifieds
>I do not need to check the remember me box to be logged >in. So really the 64 million dollar question is why would >your site be different than any other.
---------
and Chuck you said you do not need to check Remember Me on your site from your previous thread for 1,2,3 link above but I just tested and is having the same issue also even with your site. Can you test again and let us know what's wrong? Thanks.

Yes my reply about the sessionhash is correct. I just tried on my site. I logged in with username and password and DID NOT CHECK REMEMBER ME. I then navigated through the gallery reviewpost classifieds forum and was logged in fine.

Basically you have a cookie created called bbsessionhash if you do not check the remember me and it seems to work for me. If you click remember me then bbuserid and bbpassword cookies are created.

Now remember when using a session cookie it is only valid for the actual browser window session your in. You can not go to a new browsing window and be logged in.

Feel free to post a site url and test login if you want me to try and login to your site.

q1. Hmm Chuck, which browser are you using to click on your site, could it be my browser problem or anything to set? I use default setting on IE6 and FF 3.6.3. I use my browser on your site is again the same issue.

q2. I'm thinking of just turning on the remember me to be default for all users without the users clicking as a workaround, will it pose any security risk? can I assume remember me or not it doesn't make any different since end of the day once the user click logout the cookie will be cleared right so it'll be safe right?

1. I use Mozilla 3.6.3 the latest on both of my computers. I also have all the latest browsers IE 8, Safari, Opera and Chrome by google. It could be a browser setting but not sure what one. You have your browser set to allow cookies right?

2. Sure you can add checked="checked" to the html output of the navbar template to make that input checkbox checked by default. its an easy resolution.
