messaging options

I would like allow users to send a pm through the vb system to contact seller. It appears there is an option for this in the admin options to use either email or pm or both. But selecting this option doesn't seem to have an effect on the "contact" link in showproduct?

No the messaging system is not for vbulletin messaging system. It is for the messaging system in our product where users can use messaging to send messages to other users in our product. You can set whether to use messaging email or both in admin options in admin.

So what is the private messaging supposed to do? I don't see where it gives an option or does anything other than send an email?

Is it possible to have an option to use vb's pm system and/or send an email?

The messaging system is under messages on the menubar and shows in the users profile area

You can send messages etc much like vb's

If you in admin option set your contact via messaging only then all actions that require email will only send the user a message on the messaging system. email means email only and both means whatever notification is being done will be both email and a private message.

This is not the vb messaging system and you can not use that for classifieds actions.

I enabled "both" (Mail and PN). Mail works but no PN comes in. Also I see no "Messages" neither on the menuebar nor in the profile area.

Or is this system not available in a VB integration?

The messaging system is not vb's messaging system

If you have the messaging system turned on in global options and the setting to use BOTH then the user when they log in should see a message as noted right in the menubar where it says no messages or the number of messages they have.

Okay... there was my mistake. I didn't turned it on in Global Options. I only enabled it in Admin Options.

Now I have the field "no messages" in the menue bar.

But also after sending a message (in admin ortions is enabled "use both" or "use messaging") via the contact link, it's stay at "no messages".

Mail works.

Any idea about this?

it should work I have tested this. If you sent a message your not going to see anything there only the user you sent the message too.

I've tried it with a "Test-User" who send me the messages. Received the messages via mail but not via PN.

well you cant sent someone a message other than the messaging system.

If you mean your trying to contact yourself via the contact seller link that only works via email.

My comments on both are talking about all other notifications in the system.

Do you mean If someone will contact a seller of an ad this won't work about the classifieds messaging system? This will work only via e-mail?

For testing I logged in in one browser as User B (Buyer). In the other browser as User S (Seller).
User S sells an ad in the classifieds.
Now User B will contact User S via the contact link in showproduct.
The contact message from User B to User S comes only via mail. Not through the messaging system.

The contact script is email only because you do not need to be a user to contact a seller
hense there is no way to use the messaging system

I tried the mod the other day, but for some reason I also lost the original option to send an email. Is there a way to just add that mod and leave the original contact options there?

You would have to discuss mods in the actual mod thread and maybe someone would reply. There is no product support on code modifications.
