how do I make a comment in an item?

When I enter my comment in this item, it says "You did not fill in all the required fields." Am I missing something?

Also a second question....is it possible to set up a category to only allow auctions?

Chuck S February 24th, 2010 09:32 PM

what version of the software are you using?

no you cant only allow auctions unless you do some type of code modification

jimsflies February 24th, 2010 09:44 PM

I guess the comment posting problem is because I wasn't able to post a comment to my own listing? I was able to post with another account, but still not be able to respond with the listing account (which is admin).

Are the code edits something that is already available, just needs to be coded? And it could be set per category?

Not sure what version I have...it's the one I downloaded about a month ago.

jimsflies February 24th, 2010 10:35 PM

Another question...why are the thumbnails not showing the same way I linked above on this listing: Message - CaptiveReefs.com Classifieds

Chuck S February 25th, 2010 06:32 AM

Jim my suggestion is to download the stable gold code if you where using a beta

You prevent guests from viewing content on your site so I see nothing when you post links.

jimsflies February 25th, 2010 07:35 AM

That's strange...when I am not logged in (guest) I am able to view pictures, etc. I notice this site is fetching the title of the page I link to. Could it be something with that?

I don't think I have a beta...where would the version be? My board is running 3.8.4 right now.

Here is the URL to the classifieds again

specifically this one

jimsflies February 25th, 2010 08:37 AM

I'm using Classifieds 3.21. Is that the latest?

Can you re-verify that you can't see the site/content?

Chuck S February 25th, 2010 08:55 AM

You do not have permission for this action!

Thats what I see

Our latest is 4.0

jimsflies February 25th, 2010 10:01 AM

Is that for vb4 or will it work with vB 3.8.4?
Any idea why I see the classifieds when I'm not logged in and you can't?

Chuck S February 25th, 2010 10:35 AM

You would have to be logged in. I have viewed your site in 5 browsers and I get the same message in all.

Classifieds 4 will work with vb4 or vb3 fine.

jimsflies February 25th, 2010 11:05 AM

Where then, would be the setting to allow guests to view?

Chuck S February 25th, 2010 11:10 AM

You set in edit categories that guests can view the categories

Main Index - CaptiveReefs.com Classifieds

Looking at your site guests are prevented from viewing anything

jimsflies February 25th, 2010 11:58 AM

Ok...try now, changed all categories.

I assume when you say "your site" you mean just the classified ads part of the site?

Chuck S February 25th, 2010 12:19 PM

I can see things now yes.

You can post a test user account for me to try and comment if you like or upgrade to 4.0

jimsflies February 25th, 2010 12:32 PM

I may upgrade. I downloaded the new version. I'm trying to figure out the instructions about cookie settings being set to ".domainname". I don't think my vb is set to that either. Should I change the settings to that in vbadmin-->options?

I was able to post a question as a user as a test account, however was not able to respond as my admin account. Any thoughts on why that is?

Chuck S February 25th, 2010 12:55 PM

Your vb and classifieds should be set to .captivereefs.com sure.

I can comment on an ad on my site running 4.0 if you continue to have issues you can send us site info through the contact us link.

jimsflies February 27th, 2010 01:02 PM

I am working on the upgrade and when I open the new config-inc.php I don't see where the cookie domain variable is in that file? I downloaded the 4.0 package.

Chuck S February 27th, 2010 01:21 PM

The cookie settings are in admin cookie settings.

jimsflies February 27th, 2010 02:39 PM

I guess that was already set that way.

OK so I upgraded and I still can't seem to leave a comment on an ad when logged in as admin. Is there a setting I missed somewhere? I get this message:
"You did not fill in all the required fields."
