Disable to delete ads

Hi Chuck,

first of all a good and healty 2010 to you all.

Chuck, we need the Possibility to disable ads in classified because of security issues, when a seller sells articles just to get money and does have not the article to send to the buyer.

Any way to realize that,

Thanks!

Klaus

what do you mean by disable ads? You can delete ads individually or by user and ban the guy.

klaush January 6th, 2010 03:48 PM

No, Chuck, we want that the user can edit his ad but not delete his ad. So only admins and/or mods should be able to delete ads.

Chuck S January 6th, 2010 03:56 PM

well thats very simple there is already an option for that. In your admin option the option to allow users to move delete there ad set that to NO.

klaush January 6th, 2010 04:08 PM

Sorry, did not recognize this option!

Thanks, Chuck!

Thanks Chuck! One issue left. When disabling the edit function, the owner of the ad can´t do anything with his ad. That´s what we want first and that´s o.k.

What he is not able to do is to declare his ad as "selled" and not longer availabe.

I will try to say why this is an important point with this szenario:

A seller offers a camera (Nikon D3) in classified for about 2.000 Euro, but just to earn the money. The article itself is not existing. So a buyer who will buy this camera transfers money via bank transfer to the seller and the seller deletes the ad after getting the money for not leaving any signs of his criminal action. For having the ad as an evidence for the police we want to leave it in the database what we can do with disabeling the edit function.

The other way is that if a transaction is o.k. and the article is sold and the buyer even got it, the seller is not able to declare it as sold. That would be an important possibility for us because of 500 and more ads in a month and i think for other customers of classified as well.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks!

If you want the seller to edit his ad but not move or delete it then set edit permissions to yes in usergroup options and in admin options set the option to allow move/delete to NO.

I beleive thats what I pointed out in my initial post for you to do.

Remove Delete problem

Had/have a similar situation it was related to an Auction. Hit the Remove/Delete button, nothing happens. Admin has all rights set to yes.

1. Is there a way to disable Auctions?

2. Is there log of transactions, bids and posts?. I couldn't find any reference to that.

Chuck S April 21st, 2010 01:40 PM

You can do so under admin category editor for each cat do not allow bidding.

There is no log of payments that would be paypal perhaps, Bid history shows right when viewing the ad there is a link, posts are shown under each ad.

Hi Chuck, I only see a "Allow users to move/delete their own images?"

Is this the one to set to NO?

Chuck S June 1st, 2010 08:30 AM

yes if you set that to no they can not move or delete an ad.
