Recent Ads Issue when no thumbnails

I have recent ads set to 5 columns
I have mumber of ads set to 10
I have set "do not display if no thumbnail"

So it should show two rows of recent ads.

There are 75 recent ads today.
If the top 10 (from my 5 columns, 2 rows) contains an ad with no thumb, I get blanks on the recent ad display.

Pls see the attached.

If I allow showing ads with no thumbs, the missing "blanks" will show the "no thumb" ads.

Is this the way it's supposed to work? (showing blanks instead of grabbing the next recent that does have a thumb)?

Hello

There is nothing wrong with your display. That is very well quite normal.

Remember under sidebar options we have some options like how many results to grab. So for instance a user logged in we grab that number plus 5 more and then we process that result based on your settings. We are not going to grab all 75 results and issue settings etc thats highly inefficient. So for example you have 10 max to grab which say we query 15 results and only 8 have images and permission to be scene then thats all thats going to show on that block.

That make sense now. Just because you may have it sent to show 10 does not mean there are going to be 10 results after your permissions and settings are applied to the results obtained.

that was the issue... it just so happened that the next 5 were also "no thumbs" hence, the blank ones. It's not an issue anymore because at that time, there were only a few people that were allowed into the new system. Now that I have opened it up to everyone, I doubt that there will ever be 5 in a row with no thumbs.

No problem its one of those things if you dont know all the options etc you might get a little confused which is why I explained it.

I'm really liking the system and it's getting pounded like crazy.

I do think however that I will need to make a few custom changes.

1. Change Max Adds to Max ACTIVE adds

2. Allow different price-of-ad for different usergroups.

3. Allow "banks" so that someone can buy in advance, then the system just pull from the "banked" value.

No need to respond or anything - I realize that I'm on my own on these type custom changes and I will definitely need to be aware of new builds.
