Sub categories

Hi,

While I'm pondering buying a license, I'd like to ask a few questions, please.

1) When setting up categories and sub categories, how deep can one go, sub category wise?

I.e. Would it be possible to set up the following?

Main Category
-- Sub Category
-- -- Sub sub category
-- -- -- Sub sub sub category

I've tried searching the site here, as well as available boards out there running the product, but the deepest I have seen is down to sub category level.

2) Is it possible to have end users set up a bucket/shop, from which they list one or more items? The implementation we are thinking of would greatly benefit from such a setup. If this is possible, can one seller list more than one shop location?

Thanks in advance

1. sure setting up multiple levels works just fine. There really is no limit your only limited by the php/mysql resources on the server.

2. not really sure what you mean by this? Users place multiple ads based on your restrictions etc into categories that you setup.

Hi Chuck, and thanks for answering (on a Sunday nonetheless).

1) Awesome.
2) What I mean is our users might have one or shops, where the same items they try and sell are also available. It would be nice if there was some way for them to make kind of a pointer to their shop somewhere.

For instance, consider I try to sell rare baseballcards. People interested in one specific one might also be interested in seeing others, and if they live nearby, they could see them all in a single location this way.

Yeah not really a feature much in the classifieds. Kinda what your describing is something on our photo gallery where users can have personal albums of photos they can create.

In classifieds the admin creates categories where ads are placed.

Users can see all ads by a specific user with the link provided in the actual application when viewing the ad.

That will show all ads by that user.

Chuck, is it possible to add a field to the pagge showing all the ads and have that used, instead? Or a way to add a specific field to a profile used within Classfieds?

The idea we have is a combination between selling/autioning items (which Classifieds would be terrific for), and a business directory (which we're not sure Classifieds offers to the extent we'd be able to use it out of the box. We'd like a way for a seller to specify one or more locations for their shop(s), and perhaps a way to hook into a google map or something along those lines).

Thanks again

Admin's Ads - PhotoPost Classifieds

The link to see all ads is right on the show ad page

It goes to the link above.
