| Staying logged in vBulletin / Classifieds
Hi Chuck
We tried all possibilites highlighted in the PC support forums but nothing helped.
We are running vBulletin, Photopost Pro and Photopost Classifieds on the same domain with round-about 48.000 members.
At the point where users access Classifieds, they are getting thrown out and have to log in again. This only happens with Classifieds. With Photopost Pro there are no issues at all.
Happy to provide you with the Admin login details. If you do not have the login details anymore, let me know and I will send them by email or PM.
Cheers
Taner

If the configuration is what I say set it to yes your right I would not belive it. That is unless your vb license number is incorrect?
You can easily put a url and test login here to forum and classifieds for me to try.

This is not a software issue as I see it. I have viewed your site in Mozilla Firefox, IE, Opera and Safari and login works fine for all products the forum gallery and classifieds. I have tried each multiple times different links threads etc.
Maybe check to see your actually allowing cookies in IE?
There is no difference whatsoever in any of our products and how they handle cookies its all the same. From what I see the forum gallery and classifieds all see the same cookies.

| I am having somewhat the same problem?
Chuck;
When I try to login to classifieds from that location. It says that I am logging in but then returns me to the opening page.
So as an example I go directly to my home page and subdirectory "classifieds" with out logging in, I have the problem. If I remove the subdomain capability of classifieds.tcbiz.biz it will not even open up as a page.
So I have looked at your cookies sticky. But I do not fully understand it. I have looked at your suggestions in the classifieds admin and forum admin for the cookie settings which seem fine to me. But I am not sure.
Currently I have my forum setup under a vbportal arrangement. What am I doing wrong or do not understand. I guess I need a step by step approach to setting this up correctly.
Thanks for your return.
TC Topps

Just to add I have exactly the same problem - it works if I tick the "Remember me" button, but if that is unticked, as soon as you view a single classifieds page you will be logged out.
You can view the first one - whichever one it is fine - and it will show you as logged in, but it seems the page display process will have actually logged you out.

I would seriously check cookies. What changes in your cookie that makes you be dropped. Does the url change from domain.com to www.domain.com it is always something simple.
Cookies only work on the domain you set them up which is why its important to use the .domain.com in BOTH PRODUCTS so all subdomains are included.

Oh I know all about that mate All settings are fine, I've double checked.
In fact we can confirm that as it works if you tick the "Remember Me" box, which proves it. So there must be a difference there ...
I'm still running 2.62 though - way too modified to upgrade. I'm comparing the authenticate function with the latest Photopost one and it is identical, is there anywhere else I should be looking for login related cookie bits? (or was this a known bug which was fixed later on?)

There was never any cookie or login bugs to my knowledge here. What forum are you integrating with for example?
Url and test login?

Ok - checking cookies live - it seems if you don't check them "remember me" - then the only cookie created is "bbsessionhash" - not the "bbuserid", "bbpassword".
Is this related somehow?

No I dont beleive so we check the sessionhash cookie there is this specific code right in the vb3.php file which grabs the userid for the user from the session. The only reason you would not be logged in is if that session does not exist in the vb database. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
I just tried it on multiple vb sites including here and my site and a few others I know where I have logins. Seems to work fine. Like I stated as long as the sessionhash exists we can grab the userid and authenticate.
Feel free to post a url and test login as I previously posted.

I'm not using sub-domains and none of the paths have changed. Getting reports from multiple users, if you do not tick "Remember me" on the vBulletin login then it logs you out when you enter classifieds.
Any suggestions/fixes?
Just to confirm that I have:
cookie path /
cookie prefix bb
cookie domain .mydomain.com
