Classifieds post in VB threads more than once

I have opened a support ticket many weeks ago but have heard nothing.

I am willing to pay for someone to do some code work. I have VB and photopost classifieds and photopost gallery installed. I have the hack that allows new ads to show up in the new posts search on VB.

I honestly really like the classifieds but not having the forum update every time a new post or message is made in the classifieds creates two seperate applications and might as well not integrate at all.

I am wanting to have this logic applied to the classifieds.

Anytime a message is posted on the classifieds or something changes it will show up in the new post in VB.

I have gone through every search criteria that I can think of trying to exhaust every option before I sent an email to support here at the classifieds or before I posted this message. I know that everyone has better things to do then work on my one off solutions.

HOWEVER

I am at the point where my customer base is shouting mutiny because I instituded the classifieds away from just the VB threads. I am at a point where I will need to make a decision to go forward with VB and the classifieds or punt and go back to what I was doing and that was just creating an area in the VB forums to allow sales items. I guess either way Photopost has at least one year of my money. The classifieds are so close to really offering a great solution that it is frustrating that I can't find someone to code this. I have read in a thread here once before that the 'Data is there" but unfortunately I do not have the knowledge to implement it. I am willing to pay a dev to do this.......

I really expected a lot of people to have wanted this solution too.... I have almost 2 million post and 22,000 members... I thought that going to the classifieds would be a natural progression to making the site better, am I mistaken?

What you are looking for is posted in the MOD FORUMS.

http://www.photopost.com/forum/class...3-5-forum.html

http://www.photopost.com/forum/class...vbulletin.html

These are a couple mods that post a new post on vbulletin when an ad is posted on classifieds.

I have these installed, the problem chuck is that after the initial ad is placed it just fades away to never be seen again on VB. We have the forum turned on the classifieds so while VB and the Classifieds threads look the same they are two seperate applications. I have folks that are posting day to day in VB and will never know that someone has posted in the classifieds unless they go look at their ad. I need full integration of the posting in the classifieds so that it shows up in VB every time not just when a new ad is placed.

have you also installed the classifieds recent ad block in your forum? There are many things you can do

I am not sure what you mean by it fades away it acts the same way a forum post does.

As it works right now from a users perspective.

1. I create a new ad and upload my images and text.
2. I fill out all the questions and information.
3. I hit the submit button.
4. The ad now shows in the VB forum we have created called sales.
5. The ad can be see in new the new post feature and in searches.

If I am a buyer and go to the classifieds (this is where we point all our users for sales) and I see a product that I want to ask the seller about I would enter text in the small quick reply area that looks just like a post in the VB forum. When the prospective buyer enters the text and clicks the subit button you can instantly see the changes on that page in the classifieds but the original thread that is on the VB forum is not "bumped" back to new post.

In the end there seems to be just one 'New post" push from the classifieds to VB and this means that the users have to go to two identical areas to look for updates.

So what your saying Chuck is that you:

A. You don't do custom work
B. You have no ideas for developers that could take on my work.
C. You have no sugestions other that to send me to the guy that wrote a hack "Close" to what I am looking for.
D. I'm posting in the wrong area..

Got it!

What I am saying is that these are hacks and you would need to post there yes.

So Chuck it looks like you just sent me to a blackhole of a post... It seems that you wrote the code but can't or won't make adjustments to it. You sent me to a thread that was started in 2002 by Michael P and unless that is your alter ego he hasnt responded to is own thread since then.

Can you just tell me that this is a closed issue and I should simply move away from the classifieds.

Why would you force me to a thread where you knew no one would be helping me? I just don't get it.....

Captain

I did not write any of those hacks or mods so I am not sure where you get that idea. I guess you are just making an assumption there because if you view the first post of those threads where the actual mods are at it definately does not have my name there.

It is your choice whether you want to use classifieds or not. it is a great product but your wanting a mod to your vbulletin. Your free to post in the MOD CORNER but I have no power to make anyone respond to you.

Thats the rules of that section just so you know it is outside the product support area.

I understand part of your logic Chuck.... I can absolutely understand why you need content posted in specific areas organisation is our friend.

however (the almighty However)

Your the man, no if's and's or butt's about it.... I may be waaaaay off base here but from what I have read you code 99% of the classifieds and I can absolutely see where you have VB on this site so you have to know of some way to make the changes that I am looking for. Maybe even sending me to a person that you know could code the changes, I've offered to pay or at least discuss the cost... Instead I was sent to a thread that started in 2002 and you were the last person to help anyone that asked questions.....

If you don't have the time I can understand that... If you don't have the desire I can even understand that, but sending me to wait in a line that has no one aswering questions just seems to be a little counter productive.. Just tell me to buzz off and away I go... Just please don't pat my head and send me to stand in line and HOPE that the original hack developer will jump on the thread after 7 years.

Now that this one is over maybe you can jump over to the gallery area and help me with another issue I'm having....

Hello I sent you a link to that place and even the forum rules there. That is outside the product code and support. We do not have any part in that stuff. We support our code. It isnt about sending you anywhere to get rid of you. It is explaining the process that code hacking is up to the customer.

I have said I beleive before I just came off a classifieds beta period and am currently in a reviewpost beta phrase so I do not definately have no time for anything outside the normal stuff I do here. If you still need something like this in the future when I have time I would gladly look at it but I am one person and have very little time.
