Chuck: Auction Countdown for 10 day auction is WRONG! :)

Chuck,

On Sept 2nd I started a 10 day auction, the auction listed the auction as ending on Sept 12th, so far so good. Well last night the 12th came and went and the auction is STILL COUNTING DOWN! it is now Sept 13th and it says there are just under 3 hours left! Huh? What?

Here is a screen cap that shows the item, shows the ending date, but shows just under 3 hours and it is still counting down. Note that date in the bottom right of the screen I took this a few minutes ago, it is Sept 13th.

The server sits in Las Vegas (PST time zone), and my time/date are adjusted for Central time zone that I am viewing, if the auction were an hour or two off I might suspect a time zone issue, but this auction is like 12 hours off!

Help!

Do you have your cron task set to expire ads and auctions

Cron Job: sendnotice.php

Yes, of course, nightly the cron job runs and expires ads where items have sold, or the listing time has run out, etc. You have access to my admincp, you should be able to see that.

Any other guesses?

There would be no other guess as the cron job expires auctions

I can appreciate you think I have site access but I do not. I assist hundreds of customers in a week so if we had some support issue with you in the past that does not mean we have access. Now if I view that exact ad it says auction closed

Yes the auction closed eventually, so here is what I think happened.

I think the auction time ran out around 10pm CDT on the 12th, but by 10am on the 13th the auction was still showing and still counting down.

Either the cron job that ran at 1:00am on the 13th did not successfully expire the ad and stop the auction as it should have, or there is a problem in the way auctions are calculating the time/days remaining in the auction.

What I would expect would happen if it were working correctly would have been that at about 10pm on the 12th the auction would have counted down to zero and no more bids could have been entered, then a couple hours later at 1am on the 13th the cron job would move the ad to the expired queue and the ad would no longer show up online.

Instead "something else" happened between 10pm on the 12th and when I looked at the ad around 10am on the 13th because the ad was still there and still showing a countdown and or a time that doesn't seem to fit any sort of pattern. At some time later on the 13th the countdown stopped and when the cron job ran at 1am on the 14th the ad was moved to the expired queue.

With regard to access to my site, you signed up for a Chuck S account and I gave it access privs that I have not taken away in case you want to come look at anything in admincp with regard to classifieds settings, cron jobs, etc. etc.

I'm going to auction off another similar item soon, I'll see if I can't do more complete screen capturing during the whole process of the ad timer running out and the ad expiring on the cron job, etc. it just means staying up to 1am.

Well as long as your cron script runs then you should have no problems expiring things. You might want to run your cron multiple times a day instead of just once also.
