Payment Options (Bold Italics and Highlight)

Hi Chuck,

Happy new customer here who is very impressed with the finished product.

Could you provide me with an answer to this question?

I want to allow free ads but also want to charge people euro 5 for Bold, Italics and for Highlight ( euro 15 for all three options). The control panel is not clear on the right combination of options for each user group to produce this situation. I have set a cost of euro 5 for each of these options.

On a particular user group, do I :

tick Yes for "allow payment" and yes for allow italics, bold and highlight? This is what I have set up but some members seem to be obtaining these extras for free....

Or

do I tick yes for allow payment and No for allow Italics, Bold and Highlight?

Which "options combination" allows free basic ad posting but will charge for each of the three extra options?

Once again, many thanks to all involved in getting my installation sorted ! Keep the notes as I will probably be buying additional licences for some of my other sites in the near future !

You should be able to tick allow payment and allow bold highlight italic etc and be presented with payment. Now I beleive I have already responded on a support email and your issue not being presented for payment might be related to your users being in multiple groups where one group does not have payment or one group might have free ads and not be presented for payment.

In your SMF groups you might need to redo things to make users belong to explicit groups so you can assign permissions. If they belong to multiple groups as I have previous explained in my last email we will apply the best possible scenerio and permissions.

Just to clarify....

If some one only belongs to one group and if I want to allow them a free ad but to pay for options like bold italics and highlight do I use

Option A

tick Yes for "allow payment" and yes for allow italics, bold and highlight?

Or Option B

Yes for allow payment and No for allow Italics, Bold and Highlight?


And one more quick question... The default 0 or Zero for number of ads allowed for each user groups. Does a setting of 0 allow no ads or unlimited ads for that user group?

I'll ask one of my techie friends to integrate the mod that shows latest ads in my forums in a few days ! Like I said very impressed with the finished product !

If you allow a free ad you would set things as option A then they will post there free ad and then after that free ad they would be prompted for payment.

Does that make sense? Free means to bypass payment so your not going to be presented with a payment if you want it to be free.

If you dont want to charge for an ad but only for those three options set free ads to 0 as thats something else entirely than a cost. In edit categories for your category you place the price to place an ad to 0 but put charges for bold italic etc. Your user will then be prompted for payment if they click bold italic or highlight.

At the moment the existing advertisers are moving their ads across to the new classifieds.

Glad to help I would suspect free ads versus the charge to pay is what your getting mixed up with. Free ads means we bypass payment entirely in edit usergroups. If you merely want users to post a free ad but charge for the other stuff set things as in option A and then in edit categories set your pricing structure
