Free Ads? = 1, no free ads I have set a usergroup Free Ads? option to 1 and I expected it to allow users in that usergroup one free ad posting. Unfortunately, it still prompts the users to pay for their initial ad. Am I not using this feature properly? |
If you have payment set to 1 and the should be able to have one free ad and the rest paid You sure they dont have an ad already on your site? |
I have several post count based usergroups (private, sergeant, captain, major, colonel) and I want Sgts and higher to get one free ad. For all the applicable usergroups I have "Free Ad?" set to a value of 1. The users still get prompted for payment. I just launched the site with the new paid system and everything is working out really great except the users are getting upset that they don't get their free ad. Here are some of my settings: Moderate Ads: Yes Allow Posting: Yes Allow Payment: Yes |
What integration are you using? Only thing I would suggest is this. If a user belongs to multiple usergroups remember we use the best possible scenerio so that they bypass payment free etc etc Therefore say if they belong to registered which has 0 and sargaent which is 1 they will still be set to 0 since we need to scan all groups. The way to counter this is to make sure they belong to one group not multiple groups or all their groups have a free limit. |
I am integrating with my SMF forums. Here are my usergroups that show up in the Classifieds: Administrator Global Moderator Private Sergeant Captain Major Colonel General Review Editors News Poster Stinger Team ASR Staff Field Reporter BANNED USER Ad Subscriber Guests A normal user who gets to 100 posts is now in the Sergeant group. I wonder if this is a problem due to how SMF treats post count groups. They aren't regular groups. The classifieds however see this member type so I expect the permissions to work based off of them. There aren't any duplicate member group problems. |
The issue is as I stated I beleive. The user is placed in additional groups and what happens is if they belong to a group that has 0 free ads then they have to pay for ads. It is a check to ensure that if a user has payment etc that if they are part of multiple groups then the best possible scenerio is obtained and they wont have to pay have free etc. If you want to set free ad based groups then you need to make real additonal usergroups in smf and resync them into classifieds and then set the users you wish into the other real usergroups not post based groups. See they still belong to the main usergroup that has no free ads therefore they will be prompted to pay. |
