| relationship of Ad Type to Category
I have three ad types defined: For Sale, Want to Buy and Help Wanted.
There are four categories defined: For Sale, Pets, Real Estate and Employment.
If I start a new ad, select ad type For Sale at step 1, at step 2 I have a drop down menu with the four categories listed.
If I start a new ad, select ad type Want to Buy or Help Wanted on step 1, at step 2 their is nothing to select in the category drop down menu.
Did I break it?
If you go to my site, the classified link takes you to the old classified software. My PhotoPost Classified installation is in /classified/

In Admin => Global Options turn off the category cache and let me know if it works.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
The category cache was already set to no. Is there anything else I should check?

By editing the categories I was able to set the ad type to category.
If I select 'For Sale' as my ad type, I can select from three categories into which I want to place the ad.
If I select 'Want to Buy' or 'Help Wanted' I can't choose a category but the one I picked in category edit shows up as the only selection in the drop down menu now.

No cats will appear their till you assign them to those types. If you do not wish to use those types turn them off in admin => ad types.
I am not sure what your reporting as you say you cant see them now you say you can see them in the drop down.
Please post a url and test login

I apologize, I confused the issue unnecessarily.
login * password * http://*.com/classified/index.php
Follow the Place An Ad link and select For Sale then Submit.
You should see a drop down which now lets you select any of the 4 categories I have defined.
Now starting from here again: http://*.com/classified/index.php
Follow the Place An Ad link and select Want To Buy then Submit.
You should see an unpopulated drop down selector.

Correct you need to set categories to helpwanted or wanted in admin edit categories and they will appear where you want

OK I did that.
Now, step 1 pick ad type.
Step 2 pick category. There is only one option in the drop down category selector, which one depends on the ad type selected.
So each category can have only one ad type? I can't have a For Sale type and a Want to Buy type in the same category?
