admin must pay for ads

Hey Chuck Ive gone over the option again and again. I'm getting stuck with having to pay even though I'm the admin. Ive got the Admin excluded in the approval process and I think the user groups are set right but I'm still getting. the payment required. Using 3.0. Any ideals?

OK I just edited the User groups. Admin (allow Payments ~no~) seems to have worked but does that also relate to me not being able to purchase from other sellers?

Also noted that as the admin I cant seem to see the Buy Now button on my listing or the Bid button on my auction. Is that just for me and members can see these features?

Ok Im still haveing problems with 3.0. Ive had my members check the listings. No pay it now buttons or bid buttons. Heres the 2 listings.

You can not bid on your item or buy it correct

As far as admin and payment you must set allow payment to no under admin edit usergroups

You can PM use an admin login to see what might be wrong. I dont see any problems with buy it now or bidding

In fact just a note nothing has changed on bidding in any manner in 3.0

As far as getting the buy it now button to show this code in showproduct.php
As seen in the code as long as they select users to buy their ad and fill in their paypal email it should show. I would suggest make sure your using the 3.0 source code and not possibly a beta or RC version.

So if a user doesn't have his Paypal email on the system the Bid/Buy Now button will not show. Is that correct or did I misunderstand?

I'M on the beta from about 2 weeks ago. Ill check that code.

Just downloaded the release of 3.0.

On showproduct.php (BETA) theres 1345 lines of code
On showproduct.php (3.0 release) theres 1436 lines of code. Obviously something missing there.

So its clear the Beta and Release showproduct.php are different. If I upload the released version that should fix my problem. Right?

And are there any other php scripts that should be uploaded also. Like I said my beta copy is about 2 weeks old.

Sorry to keep posting but its clearer this way as to what being done.

I just tried the Product release version of (showproduct.php) Still no Bid Button and no Buy Now Button And I got script for the user/admin buttons rather then the Fam,fam buttons.

What am I doing wrong Chuck, how do I get the buy now button link on your test site.

You need to download the current build correct run any upgrade script and as far as old ads I dont know what to tell you. The user was asked explicitly to fill in their paypal email and if they do not enter that then they can not sell their item through buy it now and it will not be shown.

If you properly upload an ad and fill in the buy it now stuff you will most definately see the buy it now link

I did a bunch of "class=" template changes and changed a bunch of language strings also.

If I just upload the current release PHP files without the template and language files will that be ok?

And run the upgrade again, right?

Well not if your using like a beta as there are lots of changes since then. You might need to compare your templates to see any changes from the one version to the next.

The issue still as explained is upload the current php files languages etc templates definately uploadproduct templates and try uploading an ad and fill out the proper buy it now stuff you will see a buy it now link.

Ill make copies of my template edits. Its just graphics stuff. Ill upload a fresh copy of the current 3.0 and try again with the "for sale options" as you stated.

I uploaded a complete new Classifieds script. All files except the config-inc, config-int, inc-ads, inc-classifieds, and install. Ran the upgrade.php and got a ton of errors. (below)

I made a new auction listing and added my paypal email and all required info as you said and still no (Bid button)

Some of my members reported seeing the Bid button but myself (admin) and my (super moderator) cant see it. Not all user groups are seeing it. I checked the permissions and most all except the admin (no) are marked to (yes) on allow payments.

Ive even checked (IE compaired to Firefox, and Opera) all the same.

Heres the link to the new listing. Do you see the Bid button? And if you do where is it?

I will check out your errors but they appear to work on my server maybe your mysql does not support collation but in most mysql 4 and 5 servers that command should work.

I am not sure what you mean about a bid button there never was a bid button. There is a bid area.

You need to login as another user to see the bid box. Look here login with testing and testing

Finally I see the area on your site. I just want to be clear. As the admin or person placing the auction I cant see the "Bid Area"

Is that to keep admins honest? Can I change that? How?

Just registered a test id and Its now showing up at the bottom. So thats working (thanks) I just wish as the person placing the bid that I could also see it.

I do see the Buy it now fam,fam button at the bottom with the user links but the placement is much cleaner in your example. Honestly your example is the reason I upgraded, I like the placement of the Buy it now button especially.

And last annoying question because I'm sure you get enough of them already.

How do I remove the (quick reply) area. Take it off the templates or is there a setting in the admin options. Once again thanks for your patience.

You can delete $comq in the showproduct template to remove the quickreply

As far as buy it now what are you not setting on upload is my question both buy it now needs to be set to yes and the paypal address needs to be filled out. You sure you have uploaded all the files?

As long as you are the the person placing the ad you will see the askbid template

OK Chuck I figured it out. See this test listing.

The problem was with quantity. If I add a listing with more then 1 item then I get that great "Buy it Now button" If not then it reverts to the little FamFam button at the bottom. Its a layout thing. My members don't really see the little button at the bottom and it would be a great addition to 3.0 to add the button on top like in the quantity script but for all sales. Also the famfam reuses the send_email button so if I change the graphic to a Buy Now button then my send_email also changes. To fix I would need to edit the image called from the showproduct.php (correct???)

I can do that I just thought I would toss those out as some feedback on 3.0. Its getting better and better and I really appreciate your work and time. Please consider those changes in future version or in an update to 3.0
