sendnotice.php

I now have over 1000 ads in my system. I was reading another thread on here about sendnotice.php not running in a cron job, so I ran it through a URL. Big mistake? It appeared that I just sent out a TON of email for my users to either click RESELL or SOLD. I hope I haven't made a mess of things?

My active ads went from 1,034 to 622. I think I'll go check my cron jobs?

Is there a way to manually remove some of the year old elderly ads from the system?

sounds like you did not have the cron setup correctly for your server. Your host could probally assist. As far as running it through a url thats great it works and yes your active ads should go down.

Thanks for the reassurance. I don't do auctions so at least no harm was done. My server support crew was supposed to set that cron up, but then they aren't doing too well at anything else either.

I still see a need to purge some of my early ads where the expire dates were long term. Maybe I'll just have to go in and manually delete them except that I'd rather that the user didn't get an email in this case.

Otherwise, all is well in the land of ads. And hey, how do I get a big avatar like that?
