I have no problem discussing further functionality. The code as it is written clearly works as I have demonstrated in this thread. It is the way Michael wrote it way back when he made classifieds. I added about 3 new payment processors to the application a year or more ago. I never looked at paypal or how it was done because that was already included. It does not use an API the user needs to follow the return url given by paypal to go back to the application. When I have time to open a beta I will look at an API which is what I posted already a month ago.

Well Put Websissy...I agree with everything you said. I purchased this software, quickly became aware of everything you speak of..nothing will change though. At every turn there seems to be another well-known issue that hasn't been fixed (it's either the end-users "fault" or other pass the buck excuse).

I would highly recommend adding the paypal call back. Would make life a lot easier for some of us who have to manually check that the paid ads have been activated.

Are there still plans for a future release/update for the PP Classifieds to incorporate a PayPal API solution? Also, if there is work in progress towards a future release, will it include a membership option as well? Thank you in advance!

Once we begin a beta phase an API will be looked at and these features will be added in future versions as time allows. More than likely the timeline will follow possibly adding an api to add to the current method so users do not need to click the return url which does work if users do it. Then more than likely in a later version we will plan to add subscriptions since that would require a much more complex addition to the software.

Look people. You cant expect every product to work exactly how EVERYONE wants it.
PhotoPost has great products and one of the best Customer Service / Support out there.
I have personally purchased PhotoPost Gallery for a PHPBB forum. PhotoPost vbGallery for a vBulletin Forum and PhotoPost Classifieds for a vBulletin forum. Did the install go well? Nope..but I placed a thread on this site and within minutes I had answers to my problems and the problems were all on my end. I didn't configure a file, or enter the correct information like I should have.
I can personally attest that this Classifieds product has worked just like I needed it to and I run a Real Estate Investor site where people can post properties for rent, sale contracts etc. Of course I have to make some changes because I want the system to work differently than it was designed to do. but that isn't a problem I don't believe. photopost has always helped me to the best of their abilities.
Of course this was just in the testing faze of the site and not actually production but I took the time to test out the product and make sure it worked how I needed it to before I rolled it out to production.
Chuck is right in when he states you have to click the link back to the site once payment is made through paypal. I personally tested this out and followed the link back and worked beautifully. I had a customer of mine help me test out the site and hers didn't go through in which she didn't follow the link back to the site. In a few seconds I logged into my PayPal account and had her ad verified and live on the site.
I say give PhotoPost some time. They will take all of our concerns into consideration and guys/gals at PhotoPost...Keep up the good work! For 1 of the people that dislike the product there are 10 that love it.
I am in Customer Service on a daily basis and I can attest to the fact that you cant make EVERYONE HAPPY!
I am happy with this product and thank you for making it available for us.

This is a big turn off for me! Is there a timeline for this to be fixed?

Well as posted there is nothing to fix here there is no bug. The paypal system works flawlessly if used correctly. There is no timeline. We simply stated if we find the time in one of the next development cycles we shall look into alternate ways or additions one can do to the payment system. There are 4 payment systems included surely users can choose one.

Chuck, it may not be a bug, but its not the best implementation either. Many of my users are not web savvy and I can see this being a pain point for both myself and my members.
The payment features of this script was a selling point for me, as it would be a great way to offset the costs of this script. I really hope this payment features are improved in the near future.

It is the implementation that has been there since the script was released. I wrote 3 other payment modules from scratch but the paypal one is a default paypal payment page.
I will say as I have already stated if I am able to change how the paypal stuff is done I will but that is going to take a bit of time as I am not familiar in any manner with paypal so I need to familiarize myself there.

Maybe paypal has an example?

Payments and subscriptions which use an auto call back are different and yes there is documentation although as I have said all along changing how things work will take time. When we change things I can not say. I have just begun looking into this as I posted before.
