| How do I expire ads?
If an as was placed 6 months ago with a duration of 15 days, why do they still display?
Do I need to run a process to update them so they get archived?

It seems I need to run sendnotice.php. I am on a windows server, but I can schedule that.
It didn't adjust the totals. How do these get updated?

Chuck, I've got a question about the status of sold items.
Folks mark their item as sold but this lead not to an expiry of that item. Does that mean it remains in the database until it expires itself?
If one upload an item and give it a period of 90 days, sells it after 2 and marks it as sold, will it reside on the system until the rest of 90 days are over?
I have this case of having on sold item still being on the system...
It might be it miss something....

It means you must run the cron task in this thread linked above to expire ads and remove them from your server

Yepp, this is what I do already.... but it seems not to solve the prob (or I haven't waited long enough).
Let's ask it in a different way: Where is the link between SOLD and EXPIRED?

I hate to bring this up again..but I just so happened to be doing something on my site and I screwed something up. I needed my host to pull a file out of my backup. Upon getting back to me, he asked I knew what "sendnotice.php" was, becuase I had about 18,000 of them on my server.
I'm sure this has something to do with the above..so...how do I get these things to auto-terminate?

It is sendnotice.php I am seeing them generate in my root directory. They are named sendnotice.php.1, sendnotice.php.2, sendnotice.php.3 etc....Since I had deleted all 18000 of them yesterday, there are 181 new ones today. They all contain this single word followed by three periods:
done...
That is it.
What other details do you need to know?

You might want to contact your host about that. what is in those files? Maybe your host generates a log of the actions of those files? Thats definately a server thing not photopost though. You might need your host's assistance on setting up a cron task that will work without doing that on their servers.

Host contacted. Here is his reply:
Each file has this in it
done...
that is all nothing else, you get the same thing if you run the file from
the browser so it is the script, there is nothing wrong with the server if
so every client that has a cron would getting files like this soon as they
run their crons..

what they are telling you is they have your server setup to log each cron. You need to ask them how to run a cron without those log files being created because that i can say is not the default on most servers. You should not have 18000 log files you do not want log files.
