| PhotoPost Classifieds User Guide
Hello,
There is so much to PhotoPost Classifieds that I don't understand, and I hate to keep searching, digging through code, searching admin settings, posting questions, etc. to find answers.
Is there any documentation anywhere on how everything works? We're spending about triple the amount of time we anticipated on this project and we're still so far off from being complete.
I'm assuming there has to be a user guide for a software package, I just don't know where to find it.
I'm hoping this isn't it: http://www.photopost.com/manual/index.html |

Here's a question:
1) We have a category in our classifieds for rental housing and selling housing. In our last classifieds, we charged a monthly fee to list it. Every month they would get charged until they closed it. How do we do this? We have both a paypal and an Auth.net account, and we'll probably use Auth.net ARB. I understand how to set that part up...just not how to change settings so they can't list it forever...but a standard 30 days if they pay for the classified.
And why is it that someone listing an auction can have it run forever? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of an auction?
Thanks

I would suggest you edit your uploadproduct templates and remove the expirations you do not wish to have in there for users to select

There was 2 questions, which one did your response answer?
Does that mean if there is no date to set for the PAID classified, it would run forever or until they stop it or we stop it? And if someone stops the ad, and we don't know.....won't auth.net keep charging them monthly? That doesn't seem to make much sense, but then again I'm really trying to learn how this works.
And if we remove the date field on uploadproduct...won't that mean that auctions won't work anymore since there's never an end date??

I only see one question and I beleive we had suggested you remove the durations you do not want and leave the one or ones you do in that template so your not removing them all just ones you dont want

How do we do this? You're suggesting removing the date field for when someone uploads and ad. So if that's removed, what is the default date? How do I control it? I don't see anything to do this on the back end..

I guess if we are talking outside the program operation on the reasoning behind why certain options exist then the answer would be that there is a never ending in there as an option because its what the majority of people running the program wanted.
As instructed since your first question dealt on this second question all on ad duration you can edit your uploadproduct templates and remove the durations you do not wish to have on your site

So the only way to control this is to take the options for dates away in a hard coded fashion? So if I want to have a default of 30 days for a classified ad...that will mean all auctions MUST be 30 days as well, since this is the only option hard coded to allow, correct?

If I remove the selections for everything except 30 days...does that mean ALL ads and auctions must be 30 days in length?

I would've paid 4x your asking price just for some documentation. Thanks.
