How do I set my header

Hi everyone,

I seem to have installed the photo classified ok now, but am having difficulty trying to work out how to get my forum header onto the classifieds.

Forum header is contained in the file

http://www.mlptp.net/phpBB/index.php

When I add this into the Photo classified Admin path to header, nothing changes, my Photo classifieds dont take on the forum header.

heres are the classifieds

http://www.mlptp.net/pp-classifieds/index.php

it would be great if someone could take a look and let me know how to incorporate my forum header into that pp classifieds..

thankyou in advance

Ive spent the last 3 hours reading the forum to try and work out how to do this.

The installation instructions dont mention it either.

Im starting to think that to be able to use this, one needs to have a thorough knowledge of PHP. I wish I knew it was going to be this difficult...

I have not been able to get this going , as I am yet to work out how to even add a menu bar link back to my main forum and alter that header.

Hoping for some help,

Thankyou

Header does not have anything to do with PHP

In your admin global you set the server path to a html file to load as the header

You can place whatever html you wish in say a file called header.htm in the photopost directory and load that one easily

Hi Chuck, yes I end up having to do that and make a new one, since everytime I tried to put in any existing header from my site it wouldnt work.
Anyway I have a new header there now.. however when I put in links, the links do not go to where I want them too ( ie back to the board itself). They redirect to the classifieds. I clearly put in that I want to link back to the boards home page, ie www.mlptp.net however that isnt what comes out. it ends up as www.mlptp.net/pp-classifieds/mlptp.net

Why can I not put in a simple URL to that header I have just made.

The same thing is happening with a profile link at the bottom of the ad on the product page, I havent even touched that link, and its linking to some part of the board that doesnt exist.

any ideas as to why the links arent what I put in the HTML code?

You need to make your links FULL URL not relative urls and you would be fine

ssandgirls April 16th, 2007 03:07 AM

what do you mean by Full and relative URL ?

I have tried to point it to the main forum URL too, which is www.mlptp.net/index.htm ( same as just www.mlptp.net) and it still comes up as www.mlptp.net/pp-classifieds/mlptp.net

the profile link on the bottom of the produce page is wanting to link to
http://www.mlptp.net/phpBB/index.php...iewprofile&u=2

there is no such URL on my site, each time I try to put in the correct one, it just wont work.

I want it to redirect to the users forum profile which should be

http://mlptp.net/phpBB/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6

the&u=6 is the relative user of course...

can you tell me where I can change that link so its correct

Many thanks

http://www.mlptp.net/index.htm

That is a full url place the http:// in there also

If you dont put http:// in there you tell links to be opened with your current url plus whatever your putting so thats your issue

Thanks Chuck, where do I go to change the profile link that is on the bottom of the product page. I didnt put any link in there but need to change it since it is way incorrect. Where do I change that?
Thanks :)

Chuck S April 16th, 2007 04:43 PM

ssandgirls April 17th, 2007 03:03 AM

there is a little graphic at the bottom of the product page that says "Profile" its currently linking to an incorrect URL, , Im wanting to know where to change that link? which template?

Hey your not being clear here as I stated please post a link I can view or something to see what link your talking about. There are many links so I need to know specifically where your talking about

I can tell you if its some link thats suppose to link to your forum make sure the forum url is correct in the admin => forum options

ssandgirls April 17th, 2007 03:45 PM

Hi Chuck, sorry if Im not being clear. Here is an example of it

http://www.mlptp.net/pp-classifieds/...roduct/3/cat/4

If you scroll down to the author details box, youll see a little graphic that links to the authors profile.

The same profile link is seen on all the show product pages.

the link in there ( set with the installation) is pointing to an invalid URL. Im wanting to know which template or file I have to alter to change that link to the correct URL.

thanks for your help
