not sure I am following you?
We have only two categories used (and they are default)....with 3 separate groups of ads for each category.
This is only one group...of one category that has this problem?

There is no ad type 5 in our program which means you defined such an ad type and the thread I linked explains this.

I guess my confusion lies in the fact that I have nearly a dozen new categories...and this is the only one with the problem.
I didnt have to create anything for the other ones to work...just went into "edit categories"..and clicked "Add new toplevel category" and added subcategories.
I have catid=72 as the highest....the only one that doesnt function is 5.
So while the solution seems to be to just copy those files and rename them...is there any explanation for this?

or...upon further review...I only use the first two default templates for all of my ads and ad categories. (0 and 1)
They were all created the same way...they all worked the same way...this is the only one that is broken.

Let me try and be extra clear here because you do not seem to understand
Our program is shipped with 4 templates For Sale, Help Wanted, Personals and Wanted. They are respectively Ad Type 0,1,2,3
There is no Ad Type 5 in our program unless you create that as noted in admin and create the correct templates and such based in the thread I linked.
Your error is this because you have set a category to use an Ad Type you have defined yet not uploaded the proper files for Quote:
Warning: main(/home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/languages/english/showcat5.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/showcat.php on line 201
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/languages/english/showcat5.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/showcat.php on line 201
| You can go to Admin => Edit Categories and set that category to use say for example the For Sale ad type or another one that truly exists and you will be fine. No category is going to work when you set it to some ad type where you have not made the proper files.
I hope this is even clearer than how I have explained before.

Ok...I understand what you are saying...but what I am telling you...is that we only use 2 ad types...0 and 1...for all of our different sections.
I have looked in the admin settings and this particular one is using the same ad type as half of the other ones and is the only one that is not working.
I am looking for a reason why this one is using "category 5" when its not something I selected.
There are only 2 ad types that are enabled...0 and 1...and these are the only two that can be selected from within the category "edit" screen.
So please tell me what I should do to correct this...as while I understand what the error is saying....it should not say that and I would like to fix it.
I cant even select ad type 5 even if I wanted to as its not enabled?

I guess your still not understanding me!
In Admin => edit categories for whichever category this is set the ad type to one that exists. You have it set to some ad type 5. It doesnt matter if you disabled that you as already set the category to use that ad type and you have not properly created the files for that ad type so you need to set that category to an ad type that is VALID.

ok...it is apparent there is a disconnect here.
Admin > Edit Categories
There are 6 options top level categories here.
3 use template 0...3 use template 1
5 out of the 6 work....only one does not.
I have gone into the one that doesnt numerous times and reset the "Template Type" field to something else...then back to what it should be (as stated in previous emails...there are only two items to select here anyway)
This has no impact at all.
Is there something other than "Template type" I should be changing?

The one category you have trouble with must be set to a template type 5 because you would not be getting this error below unless that was so. Quote:
Warning: main(/home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/languages/english/showcat5.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/showcat.php on line 201
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/languages/english/showcat5.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/tugbbsc/public_html/c_ads/showcat.php on line 201
| You can feel free to post a link here so we can see the error but from what your posting there is nothing else I can post here. Our software looks for the template type you set a category to and we load the proper template so you have that category set to use ad type 5 Code: Content visible to verified customers only.

Actually thats a different error than you posted above but means the same thing cause now its not finding your language file instead of the template
All these categories seem to be using an Ad Type which has an id of 5 which means we are looking for certain files Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
Do you see what I am talking about here. All those categories have the template setting in the categories table set to something higher than 0
This is the only way you can get those errors and is why I have been saying all along that you have tried defining an ad type with an ID of 5 and set these categories to use it.
There really is no other explanation here run this query and post the results here
SELECT template FROM pp_categories WHERE id=43;

and I understand...there are indeed 6 total categories (setup in the beginning when I was trying to create custom templates)...however I have never used them...and the last 4 are disabled.
I guess what I am asking now is how do I get this category to stop "looking" for 5....and go back to using 1?
I have reset it over and over to no avail....

SELECT template FROM pp_categories WHERE id=43;
what is the result of the query I posted?
You can email us at support@photopost.com with the url and admin login as well as in this case phpmyadmin access and url
when you can you have reset it your going in and changing it in every category right? You might need to set this ad type to active just to be able to get the select box working right to change it back

id have to log onto the box to execute that query (unless there is a way to do it through the app that I am unaware of).
Ill get that for you here shortly.
In the meantime...I reenabled all templates....set that particular section to Template 5....went back...see the same error...no change.
Then set it back to template 1 (the correct one)...and Still see the same error (cat5) as before. I dont see any change at all.

You can set it to ad type 5 all you want but as instructed in the thread I linked in the very beginning of this thread you need to create those files.
If you enable all ad types and then edit the category to use ad type 1 the error will go away.

Well I guess it is now nice to know that whole "settings and permissions apply to children" button doesnt do a damn thing.
Anyway...had to manually set each one to the proper template as they were not changing as I was changing the parent.
works now...thank you!
