Major problem with uploading images

When placing a new ad the system says it was successful but then the ad has no images. Even more so it is showing that 6 images were uploaded (D,S,C,F,1 &1) when only one was uploaded. The image (s) is just a placeholder with an x in the middle.
But if after creating the ad you go to "edit ad" it again is showing 6 supposed images uploaded D,S,C,F,1 &1. You can then take one of those images, browse for an image, upload it and its works. It just will not work from the "Place a new ad form". It worked fine with the original default for sale category but not with any of my new categories.

For this particular catagory it is uploading to the data/4 directiry and as far as I can see all the permissions are set correctly. The index.html in the data 4 and sub directories are all set to 644 and are 0 bytes. I am unable to change those index.html foles to any other chmod

What size image are you uploading?

Check to see if your data directories are all set to 777 and safe mode is off on your server.

There has to be a difference between the default categories and the ones you have created on the server side.

Chuck
As far as I can see all the permissions are set at 777 for all the data sub catagories and thier sub catagories.
I was editing my post when you replied, here is what I added

The index.html in the data 4 and sub directories are all set to 644 and are 0 bytes. I am unable to change those index.html foles to any other chmod

The Data/1 and Data/2 folders are no longer there, my guess is they went bye bye when I deleted out the original default catagorie.

Safe mode is off, you can verify www.qstclassifieds.com/phpinfo.php

Looks like the image was bigger than the 2meg limit set by php but that does not exsplain being able to upload it from the edit ad side.

I was able to change permissions on the undex.html file inside the data folder and now everything uploads correctly.
And yes the system will not allow me to upload a 2.53 MB (2,654,208 bytes) file taken directly from a camera.
So that brings up a question. On the new ad page where it says "Images of product to upload (if any, leave blank if not)
Photo ads get alot more exposure!:" where do I find that so that I can put a note in about max file size etc..
