Problem with Usergroup Permissions

I'm using vb 3.6.4 with ppc 2.5 (vb3 enhanced). My vb forum is setup to use the Reputation system and users graduate from one usergroup that has no permissions to post in the classifieds to a usergroup that can post. The problem is that random users in the usergroup are not receiving those permissions. I have numerous people showing me screenshots with no link to Upload Ads showing up in their navbar in the classifieds section. They've cleared all cookies, cache, etc, tried new browsers, tried different computers, and even logged out and had a friend of theirs who is also a member on our site login to see if they can see the Upload Ads link - they can. I've gone through several times making sure the cookie settings are all correct, I've checked the ppc settings to make sure the usergroup permissions are set right, I've refreshed the usergroups, everything seems to be set right on my end. I checked each users' profile, they're fine.

It appears to be a problem with the permissions for the usergroup. What do I need to do to try and troubleshoot this? Please keep in mind what I've already tried (posted above).

If they are a member of a usergroup that can post meaning multiple usergroups they will be able to post

Have you refreshed usergroups in edit usergroups and set permissions accordingly. Then in edit categories made sure they can post to what cats you wish

Hi Chuck,

I've triple-checked permissions in the Usergroup Editor and in the Category Editor. Everything is set right. I've refreshed the usergroups a couple times already. The usergroup permissions are set correctly everywhere in the ppc admin area. I've doublechecked that these users are in a usergroup that has permission to upload, which they are. What else am I forgetting to check?

If it isnt an issue with you not assigned permissions then this is simply a cookie issue on there part.

Make sure your cookies are set such as this in both apps

cookie path /

cookie prefix bb

cookie domain .domain.com

Then have them clear all cookies and make sure they allow cookies in there browser settings. If this was a usergroup issue it would affect everyone in that usergroup not just a few people

Hi Chuck, my cookies settings in both apps are exactly the same. I've had them clear their cookies and it didn't work. As I said, they even tried using different computers to no avail. They had a friend login with their account and it worked fine. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. I've been using these scripts for a few years now and always suggest clearing cookies, which solves 99% of the problems. But it hasn't solved this one.

It has to be an issue with their browser they are not allowing cookies cause clearly with your statement above that someone else can sign in fine with their credentials proves the software is working

No, what I meant to say was that they cannot see the Upload link while they're logged in on their machine. But they log out and have a friend login on that same machine and their friend can see the Upload link. So the browser they're using is allowing cookies and their friend's account is working fine.

which proves there is a problem with the authentication cookie wise on his machine. If the login works fine for you or some other user it is his browser that has the issue

I'll try logging into his account on my machine to see if I can duplicate the problem.

I think I figured it out. It seems I've had the config file reading an old database. Our site is setup with vb and we have the vb script reading a newer db and the classifieds script didn't get updated to read the new db so it's reading the old db. How do I go about copying the ppc tables over to the vb db that's being used?

You would do a database export of those classifieds tables and import them to this other database via ssh or using phpmyadmin and then update the classifieds config to point to the proper database for classifieds and the forum

Do I drop the tables before I import the other tables?
