How to remove the $ currency sign

how do I remove the currency sign $ when running showcat.php and showproduct.php

I am using version 2.6

In version 2.5 I could leave the currency field blank in global option, but in version 2.6, I am forced to choose a currency, no chance to leave it blank

That would require code modification as the introduction of the new multi currency system you must pick a currency or use the default

example in showproduct.php you remove $csymbol and you would also need to edit showcat and do much the same

my country currency is not in the currency option, say if I want to change USD to Malayian Ringgit, and $ to RM, which file do I edit ?
