Can the default listing of 12 products be changed to default 24 in the script?

Is this in showcat.php showcat.tmpl or is it a configuration?

The perpage element is based on the number of thumb columns you can default it to 24 by adding this bold line in showcat.php where noted

I found this thread because I wanted to change the number of ads displayed. I see the
"Number of columns for thumbnail pages" entry under categories options in admin.

Changing that does change the selections for number of products (although the selected x3 is repeated)

But what does the number entered for
"Number of columns for thumbnail pages" actually do?

Your number of columns set tells how many rows of thumbails show per page. you can play with it a bit and see what you like

but what are "thumbnail pages"?

I'm sure it will seem obvious once I figure it out.

No number of columns means number of thumbnail columns as in ROWS.

How many thumbnails across mainly used for like feature blocks etc
