You can set your family and friends to a usergroup that does not have to pay thats the correct way to do it

Oh ok Chuck thanks for that. How do we add an extra user group? I have gone into the usergroup admin area but there doesn't seem to be a button to add extra groups (it has about 4 default groups). Also, do we as administrators control who joins in this group or, do they need a password to get in. I think it is the former rather than the latter.

well if your using a forum integration you administer users and usergroups from that side and simply use the resync usergroups link to grab the new groups and set permissions
