| no messages being sent?????
I was recently contacted by a member who informed me that he attempted to send an email message to himself using the "contact member" feature and was unable to do so.
I duplicated the issue as I was able to go to the "contact member" page..and fill out a message to myself about interest in my own ad...sent it successfully...and did not receive a thing via PM or email.
I have changed the admin email address within the control panel to 3 or 4 different valid email options...and I get the same result.
Is there something else that needs to be configured to allow messaging to function properly?
Obviously if noone can contact anyone about their classified ads this is a large problem!
Thank you

yes...the contact box works fine...and all seems well...however nothing gets sent.
Thought it might have been a domain type thing...so i created a new email address with an @tugbbs.com domain and plugged that into the admin email section....no results.
When you fill out the contact seller information....it even ends with a "your message has been sent"...but I receive nothing.
On a side note...I do not receive any notifications when new ads are posted....I could have sworn this was a feature at one time...but maybe I am losing my mind as well.

yeah if you get no email it seems like a SERVER MAIL issue.

mail works fine through the "send this user an email" via the regular VBB message board option.....
What "Server mail" problem would cause one and not the other?

added info if it helps:
note that our vB configuration is set to use "the internal PHP mail() function" rather than specifying some external smtp server.
In the PHP configuration I find this:
sendmail_path /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
SMTP localhost
smtp_port 25
(this is a dedicated server that we own...vs shared)

well if this is a dedicated server is there any info you get in server error logs etc?
We use a very simple php mail string to send email

no errors at all....which is the bizarre part.
no bounces...no unable to send...nothing....normal mail is processed without error through that server....I just sent one to myself using the regular vbb "send email to user" function to my hotmail account...it arrived instantly.

ok..and now for the totally bizarro twist.....I got the confirmation email that gets sent after an ad is APPROVED.
ie...sent to the user after an admin has approved the ad.
I as the admin got no email about the ad being placed (which i believe i should get)...i still dont get any email from the contact seller posts...so how on earth does this show up?
TUG Improvements!,
We wanted to let you know that your ad, titled "test notification of new ad",
has
been approved and is now visible. Here is the link to the ad: http://www.tugbbs.com/c_ads/showproduct.php?product=719
And if you would like to view your list of products, containing all
of the products that you have uploaded to Tugbbs.com, you can do so here: http://www.tugbbs.com/c_ads/showcat....=11388&cat=500
Thanks!

the global option is where you place the admin email other than that the sendto and such is configured from the script.
