What currency am I bidding in?

Really confuddled here.

What currency are bids placed in? Is the global currency option, regardless of the currency the auction is displayed in, or is the currency the auction is in?

At the moment there is NO indication to a bidder what currency the numbers they're entering into the "bid box" is actually in?

OK, so if the auction is in £ GBP, and the default is $ USD, how is the currency conversion done?

For example the auction high bid is £2, and I bid $5, how does it know (does it know?), I've bid about £2.65?

There is no conversion at present it is straight money in fact there is practically no way to do a currency conversion.

So if the auction is in £ GBP, and I bid in $USD.

The high bid was say £2 GBP (seller's choice), I bid $6 USD (default), the highest bid will show in what currency, and how does it work it out?

I'm really confused by this, plus we have a very international forum/website and from our little test among the moderators this is causing a lot of confusion!

A user can elect to show his product by the currency of his choice.

The bid system currently uses the global default you select although I can override it to use the user default

This is still totally bewildering to me (and others I have to say, so it's not just me being thick, for a nice change).

The bids show in the bid history as USD, but the "highest bid" on the auction/showproduct page shows in the "local" currency the user has selected.

So, is that somehow calculated, or just wrong? Or?

Could you tell me how to make the bids in the user's selected currency?

Is there a way to let people know what currency they're bidding in? Ie change "Your maximium bid: " to something like "Your maximum bid in USD:"

First of all it was 2.5, but I changed to 2.6 beta 2 last night hoping that would work differently.

As I said, the issue arose with 2.5, but as I say I tried 2.6 beta and it didn't get any better.

At the moment though it makes no sense in how bidding and multiple currencies work.

Think I'll remove bidding until it works properly, or at least in the "native" currency of the auction.
