Trimming a drop-down...

I would like to trim down the drop-down menu in step 2 of placing an ad, as shown in the pic:

I would like to get rid of "Rentals by State/Province", as it's reduntant since every single option begins with "Rentals by State/Province".

How can this be accomplished? Is there a way to perhaps "snip" the first 27 characters?

In pp-inc.php remove this in bold

That eliminated too much... I only wanted to get rid of the top parent category, as seen here:

This is what I now have:

trim2.GIF

I still wanted to keep the sub-cats... for example: Alabama->Alabama Residential Rentals->Mobile

Okay put things back the way they where and then delete this line

Ok Chuck, fair enough.

Maybe I'll just get rid of that top parent category all-together... It's causing me too much grief.
