A few Different Questions...

Okay I have had photopost installed for a while and im getting back into trying to get it finished up so that I can release my site as complete. I have a few questions, some possibly better suited for one forum than another. However none are specifically hack oriented so I will ask them all in one thread for the sake of keeping the forums clean.

To start with, here is a link to my Classifieds...
http://www.nightmaremotorsports.com/classifieds/

1) In the "Last Ad Posted" column of my index, it shows the date, time posted, item title and the poster. I would like to remove the date/time and only show item title and 'posted by' in that box if possible. Also would like to make the item title and link to the actual ad rather than just text.

2) On viperalley *chuck's site I believe* and a few others I have seen have images of current ads shown on the index.php in a left column (thumbnails for each category) I vaguely remember reading something chuck said about this being a feature built into photopost. I have looked all over the place and didnt see any options as admin to enable it.

3) I am running my classifieds as just that rather than an auction. I have the options to let ads run for 3, 7, 15, and 30 days. For some reason all of the ads say '12:00' for time left and dont change. I have the cron job setup to run the script once a day but I dont think thats the problem. I think something is screwed up and its not counting the time down. I have had one ad that has been on here since 2005 so I cant figure this out at all, and this is probably my biggest problem.

4) Ive always loved the Trader Rating feedback on forums and systems I have used in the past. I was greatly appreciative of this being included with Photopost classifieds, however I already had a seperate one installed on my Vbulletin forums prior to installing the classifieds. I am curious if there is a way to make the 2 work off the same rating information, or if i would be better off removing the forum based one, and trying to share the information from the photopost portion to the forums.

5) The last question is, which permissions override the others as far as usergroups. I set the usergroups to the way I wanted them, but then I saw there are individual permissions for each different category so I am wondering which overrides which.

1. Hack related since you would need to recode how the variable is defined in pp-inc.php

2. Thats Michael's site and to make a category avatar as admin when viewing an ad in a category you can hit MAKE INDEX THUMB to be the cat avatar.

3. Classifieds dont give a time countdown till they expire only auctions so I need to see a link to what you mean

4. You may do what best suits you. Our feedback system is included with our system and for use without our product for users to leave feedback on sellers.

5. Usergroup permission is a global permission. Then you can fine tune things with cat permissions. Example being you could set everyone to upload in your cats but if you have uploads off no one is gonna be able to upload. So it works the otherway with cat perms limiting things or rather called fine tuning

I appreciate the fast response, I would like to expand on the questions to see if you understand what im getting at a bit better.

1) Im not sure what part of it I would need to recode. Im assuming your talking about showing the product title, however I already went through that and its displayed. Im just curious about what line I need to remove to get rid of the date/time on the 'Last Ad Posted' Column. Dont need to add anything, just need to remove that portion of it.

2) I do not have that option anywhere. I have 2.3 installed and my membership expired before I was able to get the new versions. I am curious if this was a feature implemented after 2.3 and thats possibly why its not showing up for me?

3) This question was hard because its been close about 8 months since I messed around with the classifieds at all. I realized after I posted this that I changed the column that used to be "Date" to "Time to Expire" but never figured the coding out properly. Basically, I realize that there really isn't a variable with how much time is left because its not an auction. However I am assuming there would be someway to do this anyways since even though its just an ad, theres still the option to choose how many days it runs for. So I guess what im saying is something like...

timeleft = (totaldaystorun) - (howlongithasalreadyrun)

I dont know the variables as well as I would like to so thats just some psuedo code, but thats what im trying to achieve. I think what you told me before was the only way to do this was to create it as an auction, but remove any remanents of the auction portion except for the time until the ad expires to achieve what im going for. It seems very possible to me to do this as a classifieds without having to make it an auction. I just want to show how much time is left, say they want there ad to run for 3 days, it says 2 Days, 23 Minutes Until Ad Expires.

4) I was asking more along the lines of would it be easier to merge the two trader feedback rating scripts together, the vbulletin based and the photopost based one. Or would it be in my best interest to remove the vbulletin based one and use the data from the photopost database on the forums. My php coding hasn't nearly caught up to my plans yet so im trying to figure out whats more logical for someone whose not the best at this.

5) Gotcha, thanks :-)

Well you can upgrade to obtain any new features your missing as in number 2 and possibly fix the mess you got in with number 3 trying to hack your scripts to obtain the functionality you wanted to bring you back to supported properly working code.

Code modification questions can be asked in the mod corner since they fall outside product support.
