Question Adding new vertical boxes (column) to Classifieds?

I currently have 'random ads' and 'custom2pal.tmpl' on the right hand side of my VB3 based PP Classifieds site (see below):

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

I would like to also add a site navigation menu and a couple of spots for ads -either banner/adsense. See the blue highlighted area below image (please excuse my shoddy MS Paint job ).

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Chuck was so kind as to advise that I "open a td in the footer and define another column on the left and close it" (Possibly header as well). Thus far, however, I have been unable to get this working.

Has anyone successfully implemented such a configuration with PhotoPost Classifieds? Would much appreciate any advice/help. Thanks.

Also, I'd like to know what VB hack/mod I could use for the navigation menu.

Your using vbulletin header and footer thus you would need to open a td with this content in your vbulletin header and then close it and open a td valign="top" to contain the rest of your site and then close that table in your footer of vbulletin.

Thanks Chuck! I think I'm almost there. I seem to be having one problem (see below screenshot) where the banner is getting put atop the existing body portion of the site instead of to the left.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
The very end of my header area:

Quote:
<tr>
<td><img src="/images/test120x600.gif" /></td>
<td valign="top">
The very beginning of my footer area:

Quote:
</td>
</tr>

I'm thinking either it's a problem due to the fact that this is a fixed width theme or I am simply making some error in my html.

update - The forum width is 770 by default so I upped it to 1100 to see if it made any difference. Sadly no.

Its an html mistake your not placing it in the right place. You need to open in at the bottom of the header after other tables are closed and then close at the top of the footer. Look at how we handle our sidebar templates
