| Watermark Images
I am very interested in watermarketing my images. I have been reading through the threads and unfortunetly this seems to be a problem for alot of people.... I would like to detail what I want to do and please tell me if this is possible...
I want to:
1 - use a gif image for transparency around text.
2 - I would like to waterwark all current images.
I would also like to know if an edit is still required in watermark.php and what line to look for the code if I need to check the current file.
I am running GD2
Is this possible?

Hello
Watermarking is pretty simple in our current code as there is no edits needed in watermark.php any longer.
Doing watermarking just takes some simple steps on what your trying to do.
If you want to use a gif image you must use ImageMagick and permanent watermarking. You would turn in Admin => Watermarking options watermarking to ON and set the server path to the gif file in there. You would then set in Admin => Edit categories the usergroups who would get there images watermarked.
Now most people like the overlay watermark where you do not destroy the large and medium images and use watermark.php to apply the watermark over the image. If this is what you want to do you just have GD installed on the server and your watermark must be a png image. You would then in Admin => Watermark Options turn watermarking OFF and set the watermark image server path. You then in Admin => Show Ad Options set this to YES
Enable On-The-Fly Watermarks
Requires GD2 and you must edit the file watermark.php

If I move to png and follow your instructions, will it apply to all images that are currently being served?

Hey Chuck - please take a quick look at the above link..... I just noticed that the pictures no longer are clickable into the main frame when you try to switch to other shots.... Supersize does work, but something went wrong and it says error on page in the status bar.....

The java update on the thumbnails when using watermark.php does not work since the watermark.php hides the url.
This is a known issue that I have been working on for months now.

Hmmm, this is a pretty big issue ------ I may need to turn off watermarking until you get it fixed...... Now I'm not sure what to do.... Talk about a catch 22...
Well whatever you do, please try to come up with a resolution and if you do try to post it here.....

Hey ----- You know what ----- while I am right here.....
What is the string to use instead of:
alt=\"$filename\"
How about something like
alt=\"$title\"
For search engines --- grab the title of the ad?

Oh ---- and one more minor bug you will want to think about ----- when you switch the images, the watermark removes..... Don't know if their will be a solution to that one....
