Buy it now feature I have searched the forums for an answer to this, but can't find anything. It seems that when the buy it now feature is selected, only Administrators or the person that posted the ad can view a buy it now button. Do I have something set wrong in the admin? I did check to make sure payment was set to yes under user groups. Thanks, photo4u2 |
The buy it now button only appears when a user who has uploaded there ad elects to allow a user to buy there classifieds ad. It will not appear on auctions. Here is the code Code: Content visible to verified customers only. |
Hi, I cant even find a buy it now button in any template, ehat am I doing wrong? Its not an option I have found to date, please help |
A user when uploading a regular ad has the option to allow to buy it now. If he says yes then it will appear for users when they view the ad. |
So, Guests can't see the buy it now option? Guests should be able to see it so they get prompted to register when they click to buy... |

My email address matches paypal, I even created a new member and paypal with matching email addresses but, still wont let me do it. Any help or here on this or shall i add to the bugs list? |
Guests can see the buy it now. It does not work with auctions correct. Alfa just try downloading the classifieds and making sure you upload clean unhacked files. There is no issue with this feature and it sounds to be either you have hacked files or you have a mix of old and new files. |

Ive just uploaded a fresh stand alone classifieds to take away any other problems, its even on another domain to try it out. www.fiatowner.com/classifieds I cannot get it to work, I am having the same issues with this fresh build of files. Can you take a look? I really need to be able to have ads as buy now and not advertisments. Cheers. Ian |
It works just fine on your site http://www.fiatowner.com/classifieds....php?product=3 I uploaded an ad and selected yes to allow buy it now and I surely see a buyitnow link |

Now im scared, is there a reason for this you can think of? ian |
Nope no ideas here but the issue would be with that program and not ours. The buy link is a link to buy.php script just like any other link. |

Anyhow, Thanks for the help either way... |
I can't say not really into that software product so I can't answer that |
Hi chuck, bad news Im afraid for the future of photopost users, they will not sell as much if we are not able to find a replacement for the ad=161 etc as lots of people will be stoped from seeing the the buy it now, and this is why... Content Blocked: Date Time: 31/05/2006 13:30:54 User: Supervisor Action: Blocked Type: Ad URL: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/class...hp/product/161 Data: A href="http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/classifieds/buy.php?ad=161" (Reason: "?ad=") Can we change the word ad= to product= This way it will never be blocked by mcafee, norton and such like products now widely used on the market? It only affect the buyit now from what I can gather. Therefore it really is a REAL problem after all ;) (indirectly) Cheers. ian EDITED MY SHAT SPELLING |
Ian However it is not a problem with our program though. You would need to contact the support of the specific software application your using and ask them about this. Software applications on the net use all kind of variable names in their software. If your security software is blocking links based on a specific name or case then you need to find out from them why it blocks it and you should be able to override it or they can fix there application if this is an oversight in there coding. This is the same principle that in certain setups of Norton where the user chooses to block cookies and since our application uses cookies for login the user needs to configure his external security software to allow cookies for that site. There is not much we can do here. |
Chuck, come on stop passing the buck.... Why dont you ever take constructive criticisms, I can configure my norton, because I know there is a problem, but others potetial buyers dont know there is a problem. It took me two days and 3 people to work out why I couldnt see a buyit now button, its not just my site, its EVERYONES SITE. Your software works very well, but because of this little issue, Id have to say that it is not very industry conscious, take that as a positive that we now know about it. Are you prepared to look at this? If its an instant NO! then I am afraid, I cannot bother with any further products that you have on offer, this is a serious flaw for people buying the photopost software, it is a simple fix required by the people that design it, will you even entertain this error? If not this is full of undertones and demonstrates an uncaring customer service to the photopost brand and services. Not being rude but I can probably fix mine install, but if you expect end users of the photopost software to sell as many items as possible, you should really try and help out here. (You see all I am trying to do here is alert you to a potential flaw) Ask x10 random people off the street to name an Internet virus protection solution and I bet 8 out of 10 say Norton, its the brand name for Internet security and all these norton people will not be able to buy from a photopost site unless they jiggle with their own PC settings. Mate, they just are not going too. Speak soon buddy... Ian |
been thinking about this, we just need ad= to say something like addy= or prods= or classifieds= or adsid= You get me? |
Ian, Sorry but this is not passing the buck at all here. This has nothing to do with constructive criticism here at all. I am supporting our software and we indeed find the issue to be with your security software and not our program. Please look at this from our point of view here in dealing with our program. The program works as it should and I have clearly shown this. We choose to use the variable name ad. There is nothing wrong with that from our point of view. You indeed found out your issue was with your security software package and settings as that has an issue with that variable name. For whatever reason they choose to think its a problem therefore I explained that you would need to take this up with them as it is an issue with there product and not ours. They would be able to explain the issue and give you a way to bypass it or in future versions of their program correct this bug in their software. Point in case here there are users who use vbseo with vbulletin and use our applications find that vbseo messes with all our url's. Thus users of that software need to go to vbseo and they have some code to alter there files to excluse the Photopost products from their rewrite technology. The support for this issue falls on vbseo not photopost support because this issue is with their product. I tell people with vbseo to contact vbseo for a patch they have to fix that issue with there software. This is the only point I have made here. I referred you to Norton for them to assist you. Your issue is with Norton and thus support for such an issue falls on Norton to assist you with. Just for the record I use Norton SystemWorks and Norton Internet Security in my system here and have no such issues with the buy link in our classifieds system so more than likely this is some simple setting they can assist with. You can choose to contact them or you may modify your files if you choose not to contact them. However modification of your files falls outside product support and we can not assist with that. |
Ok, then at least point me in the right direction to the appropriate fix, if I change ad= to addy= what else does this affect, is ad in the database? where is ad looking at? Ian |
You would need to change the url ad in showproduct.php and then in buy.php change the same thing. That should point you to where you need to be. However given I use those products and have no issue your best bet is to deal with norton support and find out your true issue. I am running the latest version of both internet security and systemworks and my automatick updates are on and all programs are the latest builds |
