Change from classifieds to VB3 user database?

I installed and set up VB3 the installed Photopost Classifieds. During the install I selected forums as the user database but when I checked before continuing I found the forums not working because the hosting company had downgraded PHP so I went ahead with the installation selecting the classifieds database for users.

Now I have the forums fixed I need to change Photopost Classifieds to use the forums user database. I tried changing it to vb3 in admin but just ended up being unable to log-in at all until I edited the config file on the server to put it back to the classifieds DB.

Can someone please post simple instructions on how to change the user database from the classifieds to the forums.

There are many steps that need to be done. It would be far easier to rerun install.php and properly install Classifieds to integrate with vb3 then

If you choose you can attempt to follow the steps in this thread. There are several threads on this issue but to do what you want to do manually is quite technical in nature and hard to follow.

You can read this post but in classifieds the cookie settings are 181-183 not 171-173

Thanks Chuck,

It looks like I should reinstal rather than take risks and possibly end up with more work. My expertise is not enough to play around with the code too much.

Hi Chuck,

I tried deleting the classifieds files and database then tried a re-install but got loads of errors so I deleted all classifieds files and database and deleted the vBulletin forum database, then re-installed vBulletin, then reinstalled PP Classifieds choosing to use the vBulletin database for everything.

The install went OK and both appear to be working except that I cannot log into PP Classifieds.

I am registered with vBulletin (as the administrator) and if I list forum members I show on the list. I then go to PP Classifieds and I am not logged in. If I try to log in I get an Invalid Log-in message. If I click register it takes me to the vBulletin registration that says I am already registered.

If I list members in PP Classifieds it shows no members.

If I change my password it works in vBulletin but I still get the same invalid login if I try to log into PP Classifieds and PP Classifieds stil shows no members.

Please help. I don't know what to do next.

Still got problems. I installed vbPortal and all seemed OK but now I can't access the classifieds admin. Every time I try to access adm-index.php I get asked to log-in, then it returns me to the index page. I click Admin, it asks me to log in, I log in and it returns me to the index page. etc etc etc etc.

I have tried deleting cookies but it seems like it cannot delete them because it returns to the delete cookies page, I click delete and it returns to the page again with the cookies still listed, I click delete... etc etc etc.

I have checked th cookie path and the domain in both vBulletin and PPClassifieds.

I am going around in circles getting nowhere

Murphy's law strikes again. After hours of trying to fix this I posted the message for help them immediately found the solution. I thought I checked and double checked that the cookie prefix was set to bb but it was blank.
