Zip Code data's Role in operation

I'm setting up an international classifieds. People will be buying and selling from all over the world. I checked out the Zip Code feature and it was finding the distance to the seller (it showed 8,000 miles to my house... from where??? I was both buyer and seller in my test).

I don't want to use the Zip code for this purpose. I've seen how to remove it from the uploadproduct (funny name for the classified ads to be called "product" -- I guess this is left over from reviewpost, eh?) templates.

I've also seen your response to the search problem if I remove it.

BUT... if I removed zip codes from the entire program is there somewhere else that it's used that I'll be sorry it's gone? Like in a shipping cost estimating routine or any where else?

The latest classifieds should remove the zipcode from everywhere if you turn it off on search page upload page etc.

If I upload an ad and put in my zipcode and then view the ad it shows 0 miles maybe you did a typo

I read your answer the day you posted it. But since I was working on the templates I went back and re-read it.

You said "The latest classifieds should remove the zipcode from everywhere if you turn it off on search page upload page etc". I have the Feb 20 build of Classifieds and turning off Zip codes in Admin does not remove it from uploadproduct.php or search.php.

I had to manually remove those sections.

Am I missing something? I'd prefer to use the stock tmpl files and have the admin remove the zipcode boxes if that's possible.

I just checked the download and sure enough the proper templates are there. Example in uploadproduct.tmpl is this

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Which means if you turn it off it does not display. I would suggest you make sure to redownload to make sure you have the latest.
