GD/ImageMagick question

Hi

I do not have ImageMagick on my hosts servers, they have GD installed though but were ImageMagick to be installed how essential is GCC Compiler access ? my hosts are unaware of GCC compiler

I have paid for an installation from you guys but just seeing if there is any way round the GCC compiler issue, I am on a Linux server

If not I guess GD will have to be used

You would need the GCC compiler to compile ImageMagick on the server. You host does not know what GCC is? Thats a bit odd in my mind especially when talking about a web host.

Yeah the tech support guy spoke to the engineer and he had no idea what I was on about with GCC compiler and gave the impression he had not heard of it and said to his knowledge the servers don't have it

Will GD work without GCC compiler ? if it does then I don't need ImageMagick

GD is compiled with PHP so as long as you see it in your PHP info your fine

Thats just weird that a web engineer has no idea what the GCC compiler is. No worries if you intent to purchase an install and your server has SSH access we will see if GCC is installed and if so install Imagemagick.

Yeah I googled GCC and it seemed quite a widespread thing so its weird how they have not heard of it
