VB3 - Paid Subscriptions.

Having a bit of a problem..

Ive set up a group in VB3, (this is a VB3 integration).. imported the group into Classifieds, set permissions, and max advert to 1..

I then go to Usercp in VB3, and pay for the subscription, which is set up to add the classifieds group as a secondary.. once paypal payment has been made, the group is added.. great..

However, when i go to classifieds, it allows me to place ads for the duration declared within the subscription, day, week, month etc...

why is it not sticking to the max ad as defined within the classifieds admin area?

Hello as with all permissions when a user belongs to multiple groups the best case scenerio is done.

Anotherwards if the subscription group has no payment and regular group has payment then the user would not have to pay.

If one groups has a max ads setting and the other is 0 then this means the user does not have a max setting since 0 is unlimited

alright, so 0 is unlimited?

let me get this right then..

lets say i have the following setup. (configured in usergroups in adm-index.)

registered users - 0
moderators. - 0
admins - 0
place one advert. - 1

The "place one advert" group, is one they can purchase from the paid subscriptions area on UserCP..

A registered users, buys a "place one advert", which adds that group as a secondary.. so now they have the following..
register user - 0
place one advert - 1

On the classifieds catagory, i has unticked all but the "place one advert" group. So, with 0 being unlimited, it means the 1 is becomes null due to the fact their registered users group has an unlimited amount of adverts. why is that if that group doesnt have access to create adverts?

however, if this is the case.. what would I have to do? - make it so that when they purchase from paid subscriptions, it adds them to a completly new group? no subgroups? - allow that group to have one advert, and if they want to place another advert, they buy another subscription?

does that make sense?

Not exactly following your logic here as 0 is unlimited yet your selling a paid subscription to limit a user HMM

Okay anyway if your trying to change a user's usergroup in a subscription I believe in usergroup options all you need to do is uncheck any subgroups to place em in and just change there primary group to your subscription one.

im not sure of my logic either.. dont worry

Right.. ill give you a quick over view of what im wanting to do..

we have members who pay a yearly subscription for car club.. which adds them to a club members group, as this allows them access to the members area.

I have installed the classifieds package, and set up the following catagories.
  • sell cars
  • auction cars.
  • sell parts
  • auction parts.
  • sell misc.
  • auction misc.
The idea i had, was that they buy a classifieds package, it adds them to one of the following for each of the aboce classifeids catagories..
  • buy one car/part/misc advert.
  • buy five car/part/misc adverts.
  • buy ten car/part/misc adverts.
Each of which would require its own group, with set advert limits on each group, depending on which group they bought from the paid subscriptions feature within the usercp in VB3..

before i ramble on, can you see what im trying to do? can you recommend a feasible path?

Well I recommend this.

If you are trying to only give subscribers access then you set registered users not able to upload ads period.

If your trying to give registered users pay for every ad and subscribers no payment then set subscribers to no pay.

If you are trying to give subscribers a higher max ads then I suggest registered users 1 and subscribers a higher amount.

In every scenerio if you put a user into multiple users the best scenerio is allowed regarding max ads or payment etc.

Thus it is best when dealing with subscriptions that you set in your vbulletin subscriptions the users primary group be the subscription group and that they have no secondary groups if your going to insist on making a lesser group have the best access scenerio. I hope you follow this here It is not going to do you no good giving a user who subscribes and throw them into a secondary usergroup for the subscription and there main usergroup already has the best allowed permission as in max ads for usergroup registered is 0 then setting a max ad of 1 for a secondary group just is not going to work here.
