So, I set up a personals section... And when you go to search on it the default search criteria is there? Which includes Pricing? Unrelevant for a personals search... http://www.cyclelistings.com/personals/search.php?cat= How do I modify this? I want to add custom fields, like age and other fields, and would like to be able to drill down a search based on these. Also, for customization, on regular classifieds, if I add some custom fields like year, how can I do a search on those fields in the advanced search. Also can I doa "between" saerch, as in between say 2000 & 2005 One other thing, can I make those custom fields drop downs? Thanks all, take care... |
You can add extra fields 6 to be exact under Admin => Edit categories. Now those are just input boxes in say the uploadproduct and editproduct templates however you can always replace those with dropdowns. For any type of modification question to the program which fails outside product support please keep the discussion in the mod corner forums where users can discuss amongst each other code changes. |
Thanks, this sounds good - but at this point I dont know anything about what is considered normal customization vs. what is not... I have not recieved any product documentation except the installation page. Where would a complete newbie like myself go to learn how to do normal modifications? For example, I set up a "personals" category and when doing a search it says select a date and a price??? Obvisouly for a personals section these need to be chaned to something more suited along the lines of being able to select "male seeking female" & vice versa, etc... As a new purchaser, where do I get documentation on these neccessary steps? Thanks & Take care. |
Well we are working on feature documentation for the product I can say that. For basic operation like upload procedure category creation etc basic operation use this http://www.photopost.com/manual/admin.html There will never be a hacker's guide since code modification falls outside product support. We support our code as it is written. You may post in the mod forum to continue this discussion. You would specifically need to alter both your search.tmpl and search.php and showcat.tmpl files to achieve your hacking needs. |
