Short Urls

Is there a short form of url to a users galleries - some have been asking for this - also to their private albums etc

I'm not sure how much shorter you can get then this?

"1" being the members gallery.

Well if you have mod_rewrite enabled on your server you could put something like this in your .htaccess file.

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^([0-9]*)$ /photopost/member.php?uid=$1 [L,NC]

Then your url to your members albums would be http://yoursite.com/1

i agree the link to the profile is shortish but not the link to a users galleries

they have been asking me for a quick short link to the member galleries

Garrynz - will that be a short link to the member galleries or profile and would it work if i have the spider friendly version already invoked ?

The above shouldn't be used as I just realised that http://www.mydomain.com will get redirected to http://www.mydomain.com/photos/members.php

yes it will work for search engine friendly urls, this will be for members photos.

RewriteRule ^([0-9]*).php$ showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=$1 [L,NC]

put the .htaccess file in your galleries folder and your members albums will be http://www.mydomain.com/galleries/1.php ... 2.php etc you could put it in root folder and have the urls as http://www.mydomain.com/1.php but then if you ever make a file at root called somenumber.php it will get redirected to members.

Doesn't work for me I get a page can not be found error. and my webhost says mod_rewrite is on.

You may not have mod_rewrite module installed, ask your webhost.
