How do I make it to where the Parent categories show all of the adds that are underneath it but user can not post in them.

For instance. If I make a category to where it does not contain ads, it won't show how many adds are in the subcategories within it. I want it to show that but Users can not post in say "Automobiles". I want them to post in Automobiles/Cars/Ford for example.

Any ideas?
